  1. Hi all, thanks for the interest and I apologise for not providing a price, there is some service history, as I have generally done most of it myself, I'm quite capable of doing most things being a maintenance fitter, not that a lot has needed to be done. We would like to start at $6k and negotiate from there. I'm sure that you can appreciate that a NZ new car in this spec is pretty rare, we used to have the original sales receipt that showed a purchase price of around $120k, not that bears any relevance today. Also, we are in our 50's and the car has not been driven hard as it has been the wife's daily driver. I think we are the 3rd owners. Cheers, Jack 07 377 2538. Edit: Corrected Ph no.
  2. Hi, it is with some regret that my wife and I have decided to sell our coupe, we've owned 'Ted' for about 10 years, he taken us every where. We recently had new rear discs and pads fitted, cooling system was overhauled with a new genuine BMW radiator, water pump and thermo housing etc as preventitive maintenance within the last 10000km. There is some service history, I have been particular with oil and filter changes and these haven't been recorded. The leather is in good nick, good tyres all round, approx 180000km on the clock I believe that this is a bit of a rarity being NZ new and in manual, and I believe it has a LSD fitted. Body has the usual car parking dings and scratches but not bad for the age. We thought we'd offer him for sale here first as you guys are enthusiasts Sensible offers considered, car is in Taupo PH 07 3772538 evgs or 0274792536 pm
  3. Well, thanks for the replies, the towing is occasional, from Taupo to the local ramps, and over to Tauranga 2-3 times a year, so I think a petrol will be ok, as much as I would love a diesel, its just not in the budget, and there aren't that many around, particularly a wagon. I hear what was said about the cooling system, do the E60's all have the ZF trans or were there some other gearboxes used? We have an E36 325i coupe in manual which we've had for 10+ years, not long ago I put a new Radiator, water pump and thermostat housing in that, its a keeper, which we have never had to put a new battery in!
  4. I've been an off and on reader of this forum for a while now, and am considering a Touring for myself, which would also have to perform towing duties for our trailer boat which weighs in at approx.1550kg, I'm wondering if an E60 would handle it? I think I've seen that they are rated up to 2000kg? I remember seeing them in Europe pulling caravans etc Any opinions ? Cheers, Jack
  5. Thanks, I'll ring them tomorrow, we've been quoted over $350 plus for a plastic tank version so $300ish doesn't sound too bad. Was it a 'drop in' or did you have to do some mods? Thanks Jack
  6. Thanks, can I ask how many beer tokens that set you back? I have already done the other bits thanks to the advice from this forum
  7. Hi Guys, my wife's beloved car has a bad leak out of the corner bottom corner of the radiator tank, a bit peeved as it has less that 40,000km over 5 years on it. Is there a tame seller on this site? Is it worth going genuine? I can't see us selling the car for a while. Any thoughts appreciated. Jack
  8. I just thought that I had better introduce myself as I have already posted on the forum, I'm Jack, I live in Taupo, we have a 94 E36 325i two door in Boston Green and its manual. I searched for a long while looking for an NZ new example, and we love it. Owned for about 7 years now, and I'm thinking about a 530i to join it. Thanks to the moderators for their efforts in maintaining the forum, it seems like you do a fine job. thats it, I'm off to the forum. Jacknz
  9. Thaks for that, I am aware of some of the cooling issues, didt't know about the eletrtic thermostat though, and a an extra trans oil cooler was on the list. How long do the trans seem to be lasting being sealed for life? does there seem to be a general failure rate at xxxxkm's? A neighbour of mine has a 523 that has 280000 on it which I thought was pretty impressive, as for my towing, well it would be the odd dash to the coast with about 1500kgs of boat and down to the local ramps here in Taupo.. Thanks for taking the time to reply to my questions, these forums are great aren't they? Just a wealth of information from people with a common interest. Thanks again, jack
  10. That really looks like a alignment issue to me, I noticed that the hanger mount seems to have a fair bit of allowance for adjustment, was it all straight when it went it was finished? plus the weld on the mount doesn't look as if it has hardly any penetration between the two halves. just my 5 cents worth. Jack
  11. Thanks for the replies so far, I was wondering if the Jappa's have different suspesion rates i;e springs/shockies etc as well, I have read that most manufacturers 'tune' the settings for the relevant markets they are selling into. I remember when we bought our 1st E30 that the local agent said that the jap cars had a defferent transmissionm and the seats end some trim were different due to local content requirements, I wonder of this is true for the later models, we ended up back then with a loveley 325i 4 door which was much later replaced with an E36 325 coupe in manual which we still have, both NZ new. A 540 would be very nice, but I the thought of replacing a watercooled alenator and the overall complexity puts me off a bit, plus I don't know how long my licsence would last, mind you, an M sport version would be the Dogs Bollocks, hell I'm in my 50's so why not I s'pose, just got to get that past SWMBO. I'm thinking of selling the 4wd which is quite expensive to keep and getting something 'nice' for myself. Regards, Jack
  12. Hi, 1st time poster here, I'm thinking about getting an E39 530i, and I'm wodering what the differences are between NZ new and a Jap import are? Is there any valid reason not to buy an import? And can anyone who as one tell me what the braked towing capacity is please? I would love to get a Touring, but there doesn't seem to be many around at the moment, would a 528 be a good alternative? Thanks, Jack
