  1. Bought an E46 wagon that's largely in reasonably good nick... except the wheels.

3/4 of the mags are chewed up. 2 have curbing just about the whole way round like the last owner was on some sort of touch-parking vendetta.

Anyway, the spare wheel is good, so if someone as 1,2 or 3 Style 96s that aren't defaced, I'm interested. Failing that, i guess I could get the worst offenders fixed.

  2. Did you buy it locally? How much if I may ask? Cheers

Bought one off a member here. Thread is here http://bimmersport.co.nz/topic/53768-wtb-e46-factory-cd-head-unit/#entry582400

There are a few different variants of the head unit, some pricier than others. Start by expecting to pay maybe $250-350 locally second hand depending on which, then shop around and see what you can get. The aux-in jack can be built yourself or added a number of different ways with OE and aftermarket kit options. I got an OE kit in from Pelican Parts as part of an order I was doing. Think it was $USD45.

  3. Would like to buy an 2003+ CD head unit for my recently acquired E46 330i.

Prefer to keep the stock look. Occasionally want to play CDs. Boot changer is a hassle to load and looks to be a bit unreliable, Also want to fit a aux in jack for background music on long trips. Have the BMW kit to fit this already.

Would really like to buy a Dynavin N6 but have unconfirmed fears about the price of the unit and HVAC controls adapter required to fit it.

  4. Time to part with my pride and joy to do the sensible family thing for a while.

    - Genuine manual NZ new 1987 M535i. https://carjam.co.nz/car/?plate=Wr7470

    - Owned since mid-2012 as our daily driver and maintained as such. Currently garaged at 290,000 Kms

    - Service history and all recent receipts. Looked after by Bavarian Motors for the last few years. Serviced yesterday. Current warrant and registration.

    - Original black leather Motorsport interior in good condition w premium sound option. A few springs in the sports seats have given up as they are known to do but the adjustments still work.

    - Nakamichi CD head unit and 4x25w Alpine amp. 3.5 mm aux in cable in glove box. Aluminium tweeters - replaced with silk domes.

    - Electric 2-way sunroof.

    - Air con works, but will need regassing for this summer.

    - Mongoose alarm and immobiliser.

    - Motorsport body kit, rear spoiler and smoked dechromed indictor lenses.

    - Running genuine 17x8" BBS RN wheels running 225/45R17s. Has custom BMW centre caps shown in pic 2.

    - Factory LSD.

    - Lightened flywheel.

    - Short shift kit. Worn factory gear knob and replacement M-badged contour gearknob

    - Custom exhaust front and middle mufflers.

    - Original jack, tool kit etc.

    - Tow bar.

    - Pretty straight, a few stone chips, scratches and supermarket dents as you would expect for a daily.

    - Asking $10,000

  5. Ordered a Grom Bluetooth kit for mine from the US. Think I used Youshop to save on shipping too. Total about $140. Installation was easy enough so did it myself.

Replaces the CD player connection so car sees it as a CD player. Works great, radio controls to skip track ect work, as do any steering wheel controls.

Comes with a mic too, wire can go behind the gauge cluster if you install it there, calls work great.

So such good cheap options for the new E92 with iDrive, it's either spend ~1k or just get one of those units that plugs into the aux input which is what I've done :(

Sounds good. Just so I'm clear, does it respond to the phone buttons on the wheel or only the stereo ones?

  6. Have recently bought an E46 330i Touring. Has a tape deck head unit (version w mode button FWIW), a 6 disc stacker in the boot and a multi-function steering wheel. At a glance no evidence that it's wired for car phone (no mic near the mirror).

Would like to do Bluetooth hands-free with an iPhone 4S and 6. Have an iPod that I can put on a 3.5mm jack to the head unit if needed, but for bonus points would like to stream music off the phone too.

What's the best solution? BMW, DICE, Parrot, Dension? Anyone got something local?
