Currently have a 08 BMW 320i e92 auto, needs a new motor and have found a n52b30 for a similar price of the n46. Comes with the motor, auto transmission and DME's. Should be a very simple straight swap, n46 and box out, n52 and box back in? I'm Just not sure on driveshaft and differential of the 320i will bolt up to the 330i trans? Obviously I would originally just sell the car and buy a higher spec model but considering the n46 is busted and I can get the n52, trans and DME's for a similar price, I'm rather interested!

That what I first thought but it doesn't look like it, there's a rather large gap between + the hole is on the top. Could it just be wear?

So my 328i e36 has been sitting around for a couple of months, I went to start it yesterday, let it run for about 10 mins then all of a sudden, there was a massive bang and steam pouring from the gaps around the bonnet! Pulled up the bonnet and the top radiator hose has a massive hole in and coolant gone everywhere!!! Before I replace the pipe, I obviously need to find out the root cause. Any ideas? Has never overheated or anything since ownership btw.

Hi all, Just purchased an m50 manifold to go onto my e36 328i, quick question, Before I go through with the swap, I was just looking for a part number and the only one I can find is near the throttle body (1 720 615 2.0). Would there be another one that I'm just not seeing? I've googled and googled but can't find what its from!! Anyone know if its from a 325i e36 or anything else? The part number is not recognised on realoem.com

So I have a 94 540i v8 auto with the dreaded trans program, After a good look yesterday I believe the gearbox to be stuffed as there is a not very nice clunk when I put in reverse Just looking at transmissions and found an e39 5 speed auto, will that fit an e34? If not, what models can I get one from or is it cheaper or easier for a rebuild? Does it have to be from a v8? I've been searching heaps but can't really find what I'm looking for.

So just purchased this 540i as a side project but wasn't a good reaction from the Mrs when I brought it home so unfortunately its gotta go. Its a 94 540i e34 in black, V8 engine, has black leather, sunroof, larger BMW wheels with good tyres. Things that need fixing - Needs new springs as previous owner thought it would be a good idea to cut them - Has Trans program message come up so its in limp mode, doesn't sound like a bad gearbox, from research it sounds like a speed sensor or a bad TPS. - WOF and Reg just ran out - 280,000kms so it needs a tidy up such as new BMW badges, leather is scratched and the sunroof headliner is coming off. Motor is sound, been told its been replaced at some stage but have no paperwork so unfortunately there is no proof. Located in Lower Hutt Wellington, not really sure what its worth so am really open too offers, don't want too part it out though. If it doesn't sell ill keep and fix up

I just bought a e36 328i coupe and one thing that doesn't work is the windscreen washers. If you look at the attachment images there is a silver thing cable tied up to the washer bottle, note the spliced wires that don't look factory either. The motor makes noise and has water in the tank but still no. Have also checked for blockages in the lines or jets or leaks but nothing. I'm guessing it has something to do with it!!

Just something a bit more modern looking with Bluetooth, aux, iPhone control etc... I'm looking at another alpine unit on trademe with 3 preamp outputs so hopefully should be a straight swap Thanks guys

So just purchased a 95 328i coupe manual, happy as with it so far except the audio side of things. Its gotta custom boot install in the boot (came with the car) and came with a headunit (Alpine CDA 9886r) that I wanna change out. I've pulled it out and if you see the attached images it has the thick green wires coming out the back. You can't unplug them out the back but has connectors to reattach them. My question is if I buy a more modern alpine headunit, will it have these wires coming out the back?

I'm looking to swap my e36 328i intake manifold for one from a M50 325i Part number 11611735727, part numbers ending in 728 or 730 will be sweet too. Anyone have one lying around? Regards, Jamie

Hi all, I have for sale almost complete interior from a 1998 E46 328i sedan, cloth type. Included is 2 front seats without pretensioners. Back seats, folding type. Rear bolsters. 4 door cards with no trims. They have tweeters/ small speakers built in. Rear headrests. Different types of pretensioners. One is blown but one or two are good. They have been sitting in my garage for a few months so WILL need a clean. Because of this, I'm open to offers around $80. Pick up only in upper hutt, Wellington. Also have a BMW E46 stereo with the tape player. Doesn't receive nz stations, can have for free with interior. Will get pics up.

Nah I thought that but wasn't it. Took it for its wof and found to be the number plate bulbs Pretty weird for the brake light failure lights to come up on the dash when it's the number plate bulbs that's have gone...

Also, I tried fitting some aftermarket tail lights to see if the lights would go off the dash but no...

According to my dash, both brake light bulbs have failed on my 1998 e46 328 sedan. It's says both sides by the way. When pressing the brake, only the outside bulbs light up, the inside do nothing. But the inside bulbs light up when turning the lights on. This means the brake switch should be fine. I've checked for corrosion on both plugs, both fine. Replaced bulbs, still no good. Checked fuse and it's fine. Any idea what's going on? My car is booked in for a wof in the morning and its broken again. Will it pass a wof like this? It still has clear brake lights, just the lights on the dash. Thanks, Jamie
