Hi got an everydayer 520iT m50vanos 93 auto that ive used for a while - it has a fault that makes it pull away from idle extremely slowly. doesnt seem to miss and ive renewed all the coils and RCG and its got iridium plugs and the dme was replaced a while ago - the fault is there most of the time, but sometimes disappears and the car goes well. A few weeks ago, it started pouring steam out the exhaust so i knew gasket had gone and thought maybe a slight leaking gasket might have caused the problem so decided to slap a new motor in. picked up a 97 e36 m52 with 68k on the clock and figured itd go well in my car. so i yanked it out of the e36 and swapped all the sensors, oil filter housing, sump and connected my manifolds up to it. (the ports are smaller on the m52). Bolted it all back up and its running sweet apart from the really slow pull away from idle. its terrible! ive had to use the m52 ignition packs, but the motor is super mint and theres no issues with. My oxy sensor has been disconnected for yonks. flooring the accelerator will produce performance but only once the engine decides to get out of the "slow mode". it feels like the advance is set at like 0 degrees and when it decides to go - instantly winds round to full advance and cranks!
im thinking my knock sensors might be dodgy... but i couldnt swap out either of the other sets i have as they are different. Help! and please - this car is my workhorse - it doesnt need to be a landrocket - it needs to be cheap and light on fuel - i have other cars for going fast - i just need some advice about sensors etc any ideas?
