  1. The main reason I think they look a bit small is that the white centers draw all the attention and they are only about 12". The lips kind of get lost, the eye does funny things.

These are the same wheels I believe with silver centers so there isn't that separation, they seem so much bigger though...

They looked perfectly fine on my car...

Which reminds me, where are those photos you took :D?

  2. You sold the RS's? Ive always used Mainfreight depot to depot and has been about $100

Yep, looks like I've found a buyer... another piece of my heart seems to be making it's way to the North Island.

use double insulated corrugated cardboard to cover each face and rear .. then tape the balls out of it over the tires .. unless you have wheel boxes ?

Absolutely, will be wrapping them up nice and tight!

  3. Oh really. Oh okay, still a hassle due to me having to repaint etc because I don't really want white on white. Good luck will selling though mate, I'm sure someone will buy me soon enough

RS003's are so bloody rare because they are 16" and in 4x100, the perfect E30 rim :)

Definitely not ideal having to re-furbish them but I do have all the original bolts etc..

If it's not for you, it's not for you...

  4. Another painful exercise...

Up for sale are the set of BBS RS 003's I custom built. Literally took me years to research, source and build these so someone is going to get a really, really sweet set of rims here!

I split the rims myself however they were professionally repaired, re-painted in BMW Alpine White and put back together by the team at Elite Wheels here in Christchurch.

Here is the build thread for those interested:

    $3,995

Not really negotiable on price at this stage as I'm sure someone overseas would snag these if I can't sell here... Such a rare set and I've already covered all the expenses, just waiting for someone to grab em and chuck them on their car!

  5. little bit more info. The wheels are the BBS RS003 16s and from what i can gather it is very hard to come across a set of lips for these. anyone have these wheels and has widened them?

Yep, I have gone down this road... I hope you have very very very deep pockets.

I got lips, bolts and 1/4 hex nuts through Tristan (VeeDub) when he did a bulk order way back when, Genuine BBS badges and stems from Felgen Garage, split and sand blasted them myself and had them put back together at Elite Wheels. Finally, proper rubber for this to achieve a nice stretched look isn't cheap either...

To give you an idea project owes me around $4.5K to date.

And yes, RS003's are extremely rare! Well done on sourcing a set :)

If you have any luck sourcing a good supplier I could be keen to chip in on shipping as I could use some spare parts too!

  6. Sad to hear bud .. but totally understand the need to get some life goals ticked off, congrats on getting married, some of the best times in your life I reckon! :). Just bought a house myself and the e30 survived that luckily.

Hopefully not too long till your next mint BMW :) Looking forward to see what you get next!

Thanks man, was an absolute pleasure spending hours and hours using you as my sounding board for this project. So much learning was done!

And yes, the CRZARB will return... just might take a wee while this time :D.

    As in gtstarped?

That would explain the M3 going up for sale! Really pleased it's going to another member :)

    Nope, different member.

so what date and time should i wait at wellington ferry terminal to see the car????

Haha, his ferry departs Picton at 7pm!

  7. Hey guys,

I've got this kit that was pulled off a South African spec E30.

Has anyone seen this before? It looks very similar to the Tech-I but there seems to be slight differences from the ones I have seen.

Also got these UBER light weight alloy wheels and heavy duty strut braces (with brake assembly).

  8. Thanks RAH!

Glad to see my old M3 is in good hands... it was an AMAZING machine with an impeccable service history.

Yes, the E30 is very tidy. Another unique and special machine that I've had the privileged of owning.

Unfortunately, I'm holding the car now for the current buyer. He's already booked flights and ferry back up.

  9. Looks like she's going to a new home sooner than I was expecting... Buyer coming to pick up next Tuesday.

I'm feeling quite gutted, I really, really hate selling my cars :'(

I've always wanted to have someone qualified take photos of the V8 before passing her on... Anyone keen to help me out this weekend?

    Matt? Mark?

Would hugely appreciate some slick photos to put next to previous CRZARB's on my wall.

  10. Here is the custom "sacrificial rod" setup I have on my radiator.

    WP_20131105_001.jpg?psid=1

What it looked like when I pulled it out... Glad I checked it, it's BUGGERED! That's nearly 2 years of corrosion...

    WP_20131105_004.jpg?psid=1

It was so bad, when I came to sand off the corrosion the whole rod snapped! Much better that than my bloody expensive radiator ;)

    WP_20131106_016.jpg?psid=1

Popped into A1 Radiators, the guys who set this up for me and got a replacement. Interestingly enough, they were stoked to see the old sacrificial rod and wanted to keep it to show future customers... They are now using this technique frequently so it's nice to see that my project contributed to something "new" in the industry.
