Hi Hybrid, Is there a way of getting a live comms dump while the car is moving? What is your thinking behind it being the air mass sensor?

Mine does the 3rd into 2nd thing, but not the disengage, though it is a pretty good thump. Always the same place on the same hills.

I have brought a 98 E46 318i. It automatically changes down gears when I apply the brakes while descending down a hill. It can be quite abrupt and give a real jolt at times. Is this normal? Cheers

Hi, What fuel should I run in my jap 95 318ti. 91 or 95. Also I have been told by my mechanic that my knock sensors need replacing. the car has only done 56000kms. Are these a common item to go? It seems a bit gutless at low RPM and the engine does not feel like it is running right and idles erratically. He has quoted me $360 each. Is there a cheaper place to get them from? One more stupid question. What is the engine an M42 or M44. Any help would be appreciated.

The hissing noise sounds like ti it coming from the rear of the car. The ticking is only under acceration and almost sounds like an exhaust leak on one cylinder.

Hi, I am new to BMWs and have just purchased a 95 318ti. It makes a sort of mechanical hissing noise when driving that increases with speed. It sounds like it is coming from the drive train. It also has a sort of ticking noise when accelerating. Any ideas? Are they normal? Engine also seems to hesitate and does not feel like it is 100% to me. The RPM will also dip at idle and engine seems to stutter a bit Cheers

Thanks botanymotorworx. I have replaced the thermostat and it has fixed the issue. I am interested though as normally when the thermostat goes it only affects how long the vehicle takes to warm up and does not affect the running temp once the vehicle is warm. Cheers

Hi there, I am new to this forum and BMWs. I just got myself a 95 318ti. I have noticed that the temp gauge moves around a bit from 1/4 to 1/2 way. depending on how fast I am going. It goes down when I go faster and back to half way when going up a hill or stopped. What would cause this? The car has only done 52000ks and the engine was checked before I purchased it. Cheers
