    Sometimes the experts are a bit misleading in what they recommend.

    Don't use a Braided or sheilded cable on Audio line or Speakers.

    Use the fattest 2 core multi stranded cable you can.

    Stick thru' a shield or even Tin foil wrap the whole thing.

    Always seperate 'low level' (audio) from power looms.

    Braid earth straps every 1.75m. on the exhaust to body, and extreme cases graphite grease and powder in the tyres - done the lot over the years, but some vehicle are produced only test your patience in the interference department.

    Hey guys ......... this started in Wellington with 4x4 imports and the "fogs" were mounted on the "pusher bar".

    The lights got knocked - usually backward (hinged below the light) consequently the light would be shining "high".

    We were told it was taken to Court and thrown out earlier in the year -

    All motor vehicles are subject to a WOF - if all the vehicle lights comply to the WOF Standards then there is a 'regional confliction ' with the perception of how that specific part of the law is administered - and exceptionally arguable (before) in Court.

    Have a look at the Regs. - and seek advise from WOF Authority.

    Personally I see no difference between this issue and " exhausts or rust " - if does not comply then it fails a WOF - end of story !

    Ok guys - I have a license for Promotional Tracks - you come up with the "Bimmersport Top 20 - 70's", and the the same for the 80's, BUT BUT you have to come up with the Top 20 Best NZ Artist Tracks out of a list I will post.

    We will run it under - The Bimmersport Sound Collection - on the first week of December we will close it - report what the tracks will be,

    Ollie - how about you guys create a competition - the CD Pack will be the Prize.

    I will post a 70's - 80's - NZ Top Charted Hits List and you pick from that.

    The Mix will be in Sequential Play on one disk, in Data format (mp3)

    Yes its a GO.

    No its a dead loss and I will go and watch Coro' Street.

    Electric Light Orchestra gets my vote. Catchiest songs ever!

    Ive had mine since march and never had one problem, except 3 days ago i left my lights on a needed a jump start and thats it. Depends on how well its been looked after but if you maintain it well and service it regularly it shouldnt cause you much grief at all. Parts are dirt cheap aswell

    Hope you are not confused - we have two 320i - '88 2 door & '89 4 door.

    Expect 28 to 34 mpg on the open road at an average speed of 95kph.

    Take off the catalityc converter and pick up 2mpg (34mpg) better off.

    The '89 has done 180,000 and the '88 has done 131,000 k's (+/-)

    Best I got was 41.8 mpg from Wellington to Tokoroa at 96 kph average.

    Drive it in " 3 " which is direct gear around town (or up to 65kph), (see Handbook) and manual select on hills.

    320's are not expensive to run by comparison - remember, always compare apples with apples.

    Even my grandkids reckon E30's are cool (and they live in Auk !)

    Have done the comparisons over 900km runs repeatedly, tried 91, & 95.

    We have 2 E30's 320i - '89 4 door @ 180,000km - new Koni's - (2 years owned) with a single 2.25 inch pipe right thru' -

    consistantly get 32 to 34.8 mpg with the '89.

    Best I got was 38mpg over 4 hours driving.

    The '88 2 door @ 133,000km (10 weeks owned) standard twin pipe, I get 28.4mpg towing 250kg trailer and 31.8mpg without - average speeds around 90 to 96kph - in both cases.

    I tried 95 octane - did not notice any significant difference.

    I record averages on every tank, however, speeds below 90kph the economy goes out the door.

    NOT using overdrive ( D ) under 60kph gives us at least 1 mpg better off.

    We short shift both cars and only jump into " D " over 65kph, (downshift @ 2500rpm open road)

    Real fun cars to drive ..........

    I did a complete replacement with KONI adjustables on the '89 4 door E30 - 15 minutes off our average trip time to Welly.

    Now I know what a new E30 was like to drive - well worth the dracmas'.

    Springs are a good upgrade to go with the shocks. Get H & R - they are the best (and we have tried them all).

    So what is the final decision for Taupo - via Tokoroa ?

    My trans died last Monday, but I would use the 4 door if the '88 is not running.

    If there is not enough numbers for central North Island, then how about a concentrated effort to Manfield on November 28 and December 2nd for the Sprints ?

    Well I might be persuaded actually - I'm a slut for a good meet! If (as it seems) there's not much interest in this drive then I'll look at jumping in on the Magical Mystery tour with you guys instead. Like you say, not really that far of a stretch from here - not much different than what I was planning really.

    So, if I bail on my own trip (SHAME!) was there anyone keen on coming who just hadn't piped up yet? I don't mind postponing this run - it's definitely worth doing in the future.

    And GIJoel, as a local Bay man, what do you reckon?

    Hi ya'all,

    I will be in Wellington for the Deadwood 4x4 Safari Trial at Makara this Staurday 13th. Oct -

    if you are out there say Hi - I will be on the micrphone doing on site promotion,

    (Porirua Testing station 5 to 9pm Friday nite scrutineering)

    Bimmersport & E30 Series will be promoted at all 4x4 National Series this season, more later.

    Look for the E30 2 door,

    I have just done mine on the '88 2 Door or had them done. New Rotors & Pads all round, 3 stops at 100k (cautiously) done 1000k now with normal driving and they are fine - BUT BUT BUT .............. check Booster Vacuum, AND the little wee "O" Ring that drops out from the Master Cylinder & Booster !

    Now that was a bummer, 'cause we thought that the Pads were too hard.

    Came right and is now reasonably good.

    I say reasonably because the 4 door has the softer pad & are really good !

    ... we didn't loose, it was a gameplan that has been developed over the last 4 years to instill a false sense of security to the rest of the world on how to waste 50 million bucks which would have been better invested in STARSHIP Hospital.

    Pacific Island nations came out the with the respect they deserved, albeit that it should have been recognised 4 years before by the NZARU.

    Now the rush is on to apply for dual citizenship so we can support either or, trouble is Australia has swamped the Embassy's overnight !

    Lets get back to grassroots sport, without the hoohaa !

    Don't let BigBucks takeover the E30 Series !

    Roll on Manfield !

    If ya still loking for someone to transport them, give Mana Transport in Porirua a call. They brough down a set of Motorsport alloys and tyres for me. Brilliant service.

    If they are not Motor Scraper tyres I can make room for 2 and get them down there for you.

    Must be here at Te Awamutu by 8th. Oct. 2007 - I depart to Wgtn on 11th.

    Need to get a new exhaust for the E30, as it is a bit buggered and dont think it will pass the next warrent.

    Was thinking of getting one from overseas like this? I think it is the same system as the one on bmw2002.com?

    or would I be better off just getting a second hand one off another E30??
