  1. Anyone out there know if the E36 Door cards can by recovered? I hear it is mission?

Ive been trying to find a replacement drivers door card in black centre trim for a 4 door and apparently they are rare as?? I have now owned 2 BMWs with black trim, but this is the 1st that has started peeling around the door handle. It cant be that rare as I have seen heaps of them with black instead of grey or white trim.

Any ideas? Can a motor trimmer fix it or should I keep hunting for 2nd hand? I can imagine a new one would be like mega bucks so not too keen to go down that road.

Maybe someone might happen to have a black trim drivers door card for a 4 door E36 lying around that they wanna sell, it has to be all intact tho no peeling off.

    Cheers,

    Andrew.

  2. Well I went and ripped out the Hoodlining and the Sunroof Mech the other day.

Wasnt too hard to take it out, the replacement parts are about $400 for the sunroof kit (From dealership). Hopefully it shouldnt be too hard to put it all back in.

Still not sure about the power issue though. Anyone out there ever had problems with a "Comfort Relay"? Apparently it controls Windows, Sunroof, Central Lock etc.

Hey thanks for the offer of the parts, I decided to get them new as at least I know I have a comeback if something plays up.

    Cheers.

  3. Just imported a 98 e36 320 sedan with sunroof, and low and behold there was no sunroof motor. I guess someone must have pulled it out in Japan.

So I went and got a motor (which i have tested and is ok) but it didnt make the sunroof work, I have been told this could possibly be a relay in behind the dash that could have a dry joint? (I have tested the switch which is ok).

Now we went to wind the sunroof manually so the Painter could paint the roof, but now it is stuck in tilt postion and will not go back, this I am told is most likely some plastic clip things that have busted and will need to be replaced.

Has anyone had similar problems? It looks like I will have to remove the Hood lining and take out the sunroof mech to either repair or replace the whole mech 2nd Hand.

As for the power problem, I dont even know where the relay is to fix it. I would have no problem in repairing it if I knew where it was.

Suggestions? Should I repair the Sunroof Mech? or buy a 2nd hand one for $350 and chuck it back in?

Does anyone have any ideas or links that may help?

    Thanks :banghead:

  4. Damn thats looking good. You asked for suggestions before about any other mods you could do - I have put this suggestion in a few threads now, so Ill just link you to one of them...

Basically youve done simple, clean mods (which are effective and awsome) which make the car stand out but at the same time, they dont stand out for bad reasons... so this is why I think you should remove that numberplate aluminum bracket behind your rear numberplate...

Cheers dude, I looked at doing that a while ago but coudnt

quite figure how to jimmy it so thanks for the know-how.

Now all I need to find is a drill.

  5. Yeah I have been thinkin about something different on the front. Maybe a add on

bit under the original bumper maybe.

Im tryin to go for the clean look, so no big chunky bits hangin off.

I would love to do an engine conversion but really its prolly just

as easy to slap a supercharger or turbo on and leave it at that.

Hmmmmmmm supercharger kit....... If only I had a spare $5500US :D

  6. Thanks guys.

The Lowering cost me $495 with an alignment but that was a bit

    of a deal.

Just so you know I have now vaccumed the car, as you can see I only have

a carport no power. Kinda makes it hard.

If anyone knows where to pick up a set of e46 lookalike eyelids it would greatly appreciated.

  7. This is entirely possible. A very good friend of mine had a crash very similar

to this one a few years back pretty funny story actually.

This friend and his mate were stropping out in his TX3i (pretty grunty lil car back then) goin about 180km/h or there abouts coming home from a party a lil pissed and on a really shitty night. They all of a sudden come to a Y junction where if you turn right the road is cambered enough to take at that kinda speed, but for some reason he turns left.

The car gets airborne so his only reaction is to hit the brakes and pull the handbrake and hold on. Somehow the car bounced up and hit a tree going backwards ripping the front of the car off from the dashboard forward leaving the drivers compartment pretty intact except for no pedals and no dash.

They both wake up still in the back part of the car with the front half about 20-30m away (apparently with the lights still going) pointing back at them.

Both walked away unscathed. VERY lucky indeed.

This is no BS I have seen the newspaper arcticle and photos etc, the only thing possibly diputable is whether the light were still going which I guess is possible but far fetched.

So moral of the story is TREE is harder than CAR EVERYTIME. :banghead:

  8. Hood st is just off the Main Street of Hamilton right at the very south

end where all the bars and clubs are.

It not hard to find Im sure if you stopped and asked any H-town resident

they could direct you to it.

    All are welcome.

Sic, I might have to come up after the gig and get some third wheel action goin

    on  lol.
