  2. Another way around it is to regester the car as a low consuption ( or some thing like that)

no - only if you can prove less than 250 were built in one year, some years lessthan 250 m5s were built, where you become unstuck is, 100,000's of E34 were built, and as far as LTSA is concerned - M5 is a E34 model car, so no it doesn't not work - good news is this is going to be changed as E34 is good example of, as 518,520,525,528,530,535,540,M5, Alpina, etc etc - all very different cars and should be treated as such by LTSA, but they are all BMW E34's at present and can't come under low volume rules.....there is only 499 B10 bi turbo's in the world, but you can't bring one here........you can, but that story is for another day

  3. Mark, It says it has reg & wof will August 2005.

How did you manage that!!! or is it a typo.

PM or Email me if you don't want it to be public knowledge.

    Glenn

    Yes,

Rego and warrant all perfectly legal and it took me 12 months to find how.

Ask yourself this question - why is it I see US cars rego and warrant, less than 20 years old and I just know they do not meet frontal impact rules and they are LHD, and that rich dude did not live in US yet he's driving it here no worries and it's just come into the country - thats where I started and 12 months later my M5 is rego and warrant - ex Sauidi Arabia 2 yrs ago

  4. Hmm....If I manage to sell my DV Camera on TradeMe this week, I could very well be bidding on your car. :P

Also, good luck on your custody battle. There's nothing worse, but it's worth the fight.

As for banks!!! My mother got screwed by her bank when the olds seperated, so I know where you're comin' from.

    Cheers,

    D.

    :thumb:

yes banks, they do NOT value human life, as in won't loan me for my little girls fight.......but willing to loan me to buy some metal with wheels etc etc .......it's just wrong, the whole system, Lawyers charging you $240.00/hr and you know for fact the Legal sect thats paid $12.50/hr does most of the work, but you still get charged $240.00/hr - $21,000 to date for PI's and Lawyers and the Family Court still has not done it's job, but we are close..........very close now

yeah man - kids are so neat.....

thanks for your kind words etc

  5. your the man - than you so much, if thats the case im sure it will fit.....

I want to put M20 5 spd behind M50 in 91 525i - I overlaid diagrams of each gearbox and they are almost same, a dowel or two need to be moved - but all good. BMW told me gearboxes diff lenghts, but I'm sure M20 drive shaft etc will fit, with some help from me......

I have a fella keen to buy it, but insists on 5 spd manual, even thou 5spd auto...

    Hard to please some...

He's also willing to pay for upgrades of:

    Cold Air intake'

    Extractors

    Port and Polish manifold

Higher diff 3.72 or 4.10 in it

    Opening up throttle body

so will be interesting - good asian fella.......wants as fast car..

sh*t it's quick without any of that...

  6. OK people.

Get serious, I bought a set , second hand, off trade me about 8 months ago.

The Guy selling them had no idea what they were, i dont think. The reserve was about $120.00.

I had to go to $615.00 to get them as there was stiff competition at the bidding.

These are second hand and in reasonable condition. Have talked about makeing a few sets sometime later this year. Dont have any pics of them, but are nicely made. No joins in tubes. Equal length. Believe they were made by Hartge.

No one can identify them positively yet.

So $600.00 is very cheap for new ones. I wouldn't be too keen to make for that sort of price.

    My 2 c

Watch out about importing them, Left hand drive ones dont go in.

I knew exactly what they were. Just remember I bought the entire car for $500, reserve price was set low - simply because I had already made my money back and there's no need to be greedy. If you wish I certainly can inflate my prices.....hows my motor anyway - another cheap buy for you.......hopefully the one I'm about buy from you is just as great....... ; )

  7. Hi Brent,

No - not on trade me, unless your talking 6-8months ago it was. It was the manual sitting in Katikati at towers yard. At the time I had a engine sorted for it, the mechanic had it running, pulled down the engine, head was meant to cost $300 - that turned into $700, block looked ok, but obvoiusly not. I should have just have gone with the engine in the first place.

I'm not too keen on losing to much money, it gets boring after a while, what were you thinking?? $$

It will be rego and warranted in a few weeks, I'm keen to either get hold of M20B25 or pick up M50?? (the later 2.5l)- do you kow if that would be straight forward.

    cheers

    Mark

  8. Hi guys,

I'm trying to find myself a M20B25 engine just to slot in as per existing - but I do have a 530i E34 manual sitting around with a good engine in it. I've spent a few hours on the net and found some interesting leads, but nothing firm.

Does anyone know or have any advice on whether putting a M30B30? and tranny into 525 E34 is going to be a nightmare. I know battery would need to be relocated, I was more wondering about the electrics and wiring loom etc.

The E30's are nicely set up as car system and engine loom quite separate. Is the E34 the same? or is it more complicated?

Any advice or knowledge on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

    MJ

  9. Hi guys, I'm after a M20B25 engine, what I have is a 525 E34 manual, picked it up cheap as it had been cooked, I pulled down the engine and decided bottom end was probably ok (I was assured bottom end was ok, hmm). I was wrong, so this old girl has fully recon head on it, but give it some sh*t and the blue smoke comes apparent.

So I'm looking for a good and cheap engine to throw in it so I can sell the old girl, I guess I could sell it as it is, but I'm not comfortable when I know she has a few issues.

I'm in Rotorua, so anything central Nth Isla or Auckland would be helpful.

Also see maintenance section as I've asked a question there.

    cheers

    MJ

  10. I'll let you all know...there is few options for getting non compliant vehicles on road here.

I have to figure out how to get E34 M5 on the road...

1 Very helpful if your Dad is director of LTSA - only person in NZ that can put anything on the road, a few court cases going on at present, so thats a bad idea.

2 Need support that your have a classic car and talk to director again

    3 Wait till it's 20 yrs old

4 Buy a rooted NZ M5 - yeah right, you would only want to spend 2k

5 Swap all into my 535i

6 Non Compliant cars are parts cars, there is no reason why you can't argue that you are replacing the entire shell, say chassis bent, beyond repair, you love your car so much you want to replace the shell, either buy shell over seas or non compliant car that has shell, replace with that shell, a shell obvoiusly has a new set of VIN numbers, yet to test that one, just like changing doors or engine over etc - same principal etc

7 In NZ you can build a car in your back yard and get it registered - like beach buggee's, low volume builds, why can't you say out of many bmws you have built this "custom" vehicle and go down that track

8 This M5 apprantly one of 8 built for Naghi Motors, special trims and badging etc, so I'm going to have a crack with low volume > 150 made

And when you move into illegal stuff - well, you can do what you want

If anyone has had aNY EXPERIENCE OR SOME TIPS - PLEASE FILL ME IN.'

    CHEERS

  11. no, it doesn't meet the laws because it doesn't have a drivers and passenger airbag as standard equipment.

    Cheers

no thats not correct either, I have a 530V8 E34 that has driver and passenger air bags.

It is as simply as this...

New rules bought in in 2002, LTSA put it all back on manufacturers, all simply asked was this car tested to this newe standard (a standard created in 2000), and BMW simply said (for e30 and E34) - mate we built and tested these proto types back in the late 70's and early eighties. So no they do not met your new standard for 2002. But, it's likely they will met that standard, just not tested - and thats it period. The rest is legal crap, as some of these cars are fine, but becuase they were not tested at manufacture - you buggered.

Also - the 6 months oversee thing - I thought that was only for LHD, but maybe the case, but I'm sure that does not help when car is non compliant.

  12. E34 Parts:

1x530 V8 96 E34 - all aparts - minus engine and a few other bits, airbags etc etc

    1x525 88 E34 - shell, incl boot, doors etc

1x530 89 E34 - 3.0l big six with manual - complete car, still deciding if pull down or repair, needs nose.

Reserve is now $850.00 for these replica M5 mags - on trade me

  13. 1x530 89 E34 - 3.0l big six with manual - complete car, still deciding if pull down or repair, needs nose.

fix it fix it fix it

    i want a e34 u should so fix it

    then sell it

i bet heaps of people out there would love to get there hands on a 3.0l manual bimmer

    Yeah - I will - apparntly 3rd gear is never ending - 70km - 160km/hr type stuff - I have nose for it.....at present sitting on 7 E34's, 1 M5 - complete, 2 535-now complete, 1 530 soon to be complete, 525 parts, 530 V8 - 96 non compliant - like new, and 525 manual - just fully done the head, back yesterday - it's a euro spec manual.

    For sale soon will be.

  14. what's your reserve have you any other parts for the e34 for sale

I've set reserve to $1500 for M5 mags - will see what happens

  15. I would kill a first born child to get my hands on that motor and gear box.

I took it for a drive last night - a little strange changing gear with right hand.

But - kick it in the arse 2nd gear - 20km - 120km and the bloody thing just wants to fly, and on song sounds lovely - just the ultimate wolf in sheeps clothing.

Finally confirmed some things - it is a 3.8l, there was some doubt as to 3.6 or 3.8 being 1992, but this thing is 3.8l - part of the special release model for Naghi Motors, has K&N filter and filter charger and chipped, unsure if this to was part and parcel, Naghi Motors car info when first sold to private buyer in 1994 (750km on it) - rated as 255kw, appr 350hp....sweet

I would hate to think what it could run with a change in diff, likely I'll do that too at some stage, as not often you get the opportunity to rock round at 250km/hr

  16. just drive it....would it not be easier to convert over to RHD....prob not...what are the penalties for driving a LHD car? looks awesome...e34 m5s are beautiful pieces of machinery

The old girl is non compliant - all E34's after 2002 (good old LTSA).

Thats why if I want to enjoy it I need to swap over to 535i, not as bad as it sounds, suspension drops out sweet as, electrical is the same as 535 - as 535 was base for M5 and then swap inside - all of a sudden I have an identical "black" M5......can be registered as "535i Modified M5" - as it will need compliance.

The only other option (if I can establish this is in fact one of 8 prepped for Naghi Motors in the world) and one of you blokes father is the Director of the LTSA (he/she is the only person in NZ that can exempt any vehicle under law) - then we have a way. If it is one of 8 or 12 - as seller believes, then this is a very real option, I then need a classic car museum to back me in convincing the Directory it's a great idea to register this thing here for Roadshow and car meet purposes and also so I can blow the arse off skylines and the like as Rotorua is full of them.

Though the 535i gives those boys a hell of fright anyway

  17. What I was trying to do was build my 535i into something closer to an M5.

And wouldn't you believe it, I now have an M5, catch is, cannot be registered in NZ for another 8 years (when 20yrs old and is considered a classic and is exempt from frontal impact rules - 2002) and it's LHD, it came from Saudi Arabia.

Last of the hand built M5's, has special trimmings that are "Naghi 1992", Naghi Motors are BMW distributors Saudi Arabia - thats why there is red seat belts, red M5 steering wheel, red bits all over the place.

So - a little homework later. Correct me if I'm wrong. The 535i was more or less finished on the production line and taken away to M factory where one technician (apparantly they worked in teams sometimes) finished the car to M5 status - engine, interior, suspension etc.

Over the next coming months, all relevant M5 parts, sus, driveline, etc etc.....I'm turning my 535i into a M5, unfortunately it becomes a 535i - Modified, can never be registered as M5, but at least I'll know it's no different - in essence it is an M5, just won't have VIN as.

Here's a pic of the latest E34 - now brings the count to 6, but some shall be sold in due course. I have 530i and 525i - both manuals - will let people know if keen.

    cheers

    MJ
