  1. Welcome to the forum, the car and previous owner were at the ChCh BBQ meet in Feb.

Good to see you've followed suit and signed up with this forum.

Have the dents been removed from the left side, as that was all that spoiled the look, also does it have an S3 badge on the boot as the prev owner was searching for one.

  2. As the sig shows, Im a Pom and dont mind the name, been here with my missus and 3 kids since 1994, born and dragged up on a council estate in Reading until i married and decided to get the hell out of there for my kids sake.

I consider NZ my home and thankfully so do my kids who are all grown up now.

The only thing i miss is football,, the firm i work for are sending me back to the UK in October for 3 weeks for new product training and i'm taking the missus and my youngest son who was 18mths when we came to NZ as we've never been back, just my luck that after all the years of following Reading FC around to places like Bury and Darlington i thought great i can catch a premier league game, then they go and get relegated. Story of my life.

In all things sport i follow NZ except for the football, and just love it when i can wind up the rellies in the UK, when England lose to NZ at anything. But the trouble is i still get sh*t from kiwis, so i cant win.

  3. Met and had quite a chat with Ian Gillan lead singer of Deep Purple, due to the fact that in the early 80's i resprayed his beloved FIAT 131 Mirafiori TC. Cool guy and down to earth, when not on tour he still used to live with his dear old mum. Though he had enough money to buy a castle.

Also had tea with Jackie Stewart (F1 World champ) and his mum who was a friend of my mum, i think i was about 9yrs old at the time.

Other claim to fame is that i resprayed the Jag that was featured in Morse after it was set on fire at the end of series 3 (if that counts).

  4. haha calm down, I just checked and you don't have any warnings, if you get one the blocks will red. You should get an explanation why if you get a warning.

Phew thats a relief, does that mean i can go out to play with my freinds, i promise i'll be good and be home before dark.

    PS thanks for checking Mike.

  5. wa wa we wow, they're expensive! Is the price justified?

    The CAI or the headers,

in any case you pay for what you get, the CAI is a replica of the Gruppe M, and is genuine carbon fibre & kevlar not immitation, the same product is being advertised for 569 pounds sterling in both the UK and HK, so considering exchange rates i think the price is pretty fair. And i'm really pleased with it.

  6. Seems i have been naughty

My deerest sincerest apologies to any body or thing that i may have offended, may i wish you all the good fortune the world has to offer and that your sons be hung like a do*key. May the sun go down each and every day knowing that you have a smile of contentment on your face. A deep feeling of remorse has swept over my saddened soul knowing that someone out there no longer loves me. OH the despair and shame of it all. Please pretty please forgive my evil mind and tongue and restore my faith in mankind and accept my apology by removing the DAMN warning :P

As its making me feel like a naughty schoolboy, not that i would feel a naughty schoolboy i'd get arrested for that.

  7. I agree, save up and get the real thing. If you do a swap you will always have a nagging feeling in the back of your mind that you don't own a real M3. Look at it in terms of economics, paying for the car + mechanic fees + effort + no car for a while = cash difference in trading your 325. Also, e36 M3's aren't going to depreciate too much too quickly where are a 325i with an M3 engine will.

+1 thats the best argument yet for not doing it.

  8. Hi Pom, yeah has been a lot of hard work, like 8 months!

RHD Bimmer market and choice for popular models is sparce.

We are concentrating on quality,ie equal length and fittment.

Have samples for E30,36,46,39 etc, setting up soon for dyno tests, will keep you informed.

The E30 boys have been starved to long!

Quality is the key word i'm looking for, cheers Wayney keep me informed.

  9. Thanks to all who have offered advice on my tram lineing problem, i think its worth my while looking at alignment including rear, and talking to someone a bit more knowledgable than the last guy regarding camber/castor

Any suggestions for the ChCh area

PS i'll post to let you know the outcome.

  10. Hey Mate, no offence intended. my words originally were a "decent" wheel allignment.

90% of the time, the salesman has more skills than the schoolkid doin' the allignment.

There are some really talented allignment guys out there , that can sort out your problems when you go outside manufacturers specs [ lowering , widening etc ]

try and use one of these guys.

my comments about race cars, is because 1/2 the idiots out there try and use race car settings on a street car

[ great for creating excess tyre wear ]

I know some decent allignment guys in the Tauranga area only

OK we're friends again, Seriously though, what would you do, would you try another alignment from a reputible guy who knows what he's doing and do you think the camber settings etc are worth looking at, as you metioned earlier, as i said i'm willing try anything to avoid spending a grand on something that i may not need.

  11. I dont mind people working for a living and i'll always give them a chance, but actually it was a Repco saturday staffer who was being pushy and trying to sell me the Narva ones, of which they only do the one type (the wrong type) he assured me they would fit, so i took him out to my car popped off the front indicator showed him the bulb and holder and all he could say as he hurried back into the shop was that i must have non genuine bulb holders and that my car had been messed with. No apology for being wrong or nothing. And $51 compared to $18 dont tell me thats not a rip off. Learn the trade by all means but dont be a know all.

  12. Given that a 215 generally mounts on a 7 inch rim stretching it to an 8.5 is probably ugly and I dont think he is doing it for race track performance.

And we should allow some benefit to comments made by others - perhaps NZ pom would clarify

As for the directional tyres says it all if you have to put them on backwards to make them work when pushed !!

Hey guys all i offered was a personal opinion not a proffesional one...... To clear it up, it is not a race car, its a daily driver, the tyres were not my choice they were fitted to the car when i got it, it feels worse the slower i go especially around town, i dont care what they look like i just want to feel safe so if any of you have some proffesional advice on how to overcome this before i end up spending nearly $1000 on new ones then please explain. OH and by the way smartarse i do know what a wheel alignment is and it was the first thing i got done.

    Thanks for support 3pedals

  13. BEWARE, just a freindly word, i have 215's on my 8.5 rims (Pirellis) and they suck, i'm looking to get some 235's

the trouble is because there stretched they tram line all over the place, change of road surface, white lines or anything different makes them feel twitchy. i admit they look good but considering winters coming i dont trust them.

any one want to swap good tread Pirelli 6000 215/45/17 for 235's

  14. If i find any anywhere else I'll let you know,

I would trademe it, but I bloody hate trademe (topped up my account and the fawkers didnt credit it to my account then when I complained they ran me round and round)

I know what you mean, i now use ebay its heaps cheaper than the rip off merchants on TM for instance those M3 style mirrors on TM for $200 are the same on ebay for $30 US, if i remember i saw some real carbon fibre eyelids for about $25 US.
