  1. Hey guys,

the roof lining in my parents e38 was completely detached from the roof. so i took the whole roof panel out and riped it off.

now i want to re-do it with a black suade material but my problem with that is trying to match the visors and other accesories to that...

Does anyone know where to find black originals? or possibly ones from another model that fit? i dont mind painting the plastic parts, but would prefer factory black visiors.

Also does anyone know how much it would cost to get a professional to redo it? just as an option.

    Cheers

  9. Hey all,

I needed to replace the automatic transmission in my 1991 525i with the m50 and ZF 5hp-18 transmission.

my mechanic had a spare mint one but it was from an e36. now as far as we could see they are identical 5hp-18's except that the e36 'box used a slightly different plug to go to the ECU, however they are still both 15 pin plugs.

i went searching around and was told by a few people that you could just cut the existing plug off and solder on the correct plug on (from the e36) as the wires were the same.

i have since put the new trans in and soldered the new plug on, trying to match the wires colour for colour.

this however has not worked and the ecu still picks up a trans fault and it is stuck in 'limp mode'.

Has anyone done this conversion or does anyone know anything about it... im rather stuck.

    Thanks heaps

    Ben

  10. It sucks you cant keep this man! Would love to own one myself one day. GLWS

    yea cheers mate,

it does suck, will be very hard to see it go after all the hard work, i neva thought id sell it. but i have to set my mind on my pilot training. im sure one day when im rolling in it ;) ill buy another and fit it with the latest bmw v8.

until then tho this will be a sweet project for someone else to finish.

  11. Hi guys,

it has been a hard week comming to the conclusion that i no longer have the time or money to keep a car like this. i have just started my commercial pilots training and unfortunatly this car has to go.

    Specs:

its a 1986 NZ new diamond schwartz M325i

it has had a m30b35 conversion

    custom mounts

    m10 5 speed gearbox

the engine was stripped and put back togeather with alot of new parts.

    front electric fan

    custom driveshaft

    all new brake pads/discs

    interior is in excellent condition

    dash has only small cracks

the body is in amazing condition for age

NO RUST that i can find!

10k + has been spent on this car getting it to where it is

    What needs doing (mechanicly):

this car runs extreamly well! the only two issues that need fixing are:

    1. it needs an e28 single mass flywheel and starter motor, as the m20 one it has dosent quite mesh properly and it has trouble starting. however, when it does start it runs mint!

    2. the other issue is it may need a new radiator as i believe this one has a very slight leak when at full pressure, i do have to top up the reseviour every now an then but its normally only a few hundred ml.

    Cosmeticaly:

the front needs a respray (stone chips) and a few bits of trim

both these issues can be solved very easily, i just dont have any money to finish it.

this car has seriously epic potential!! ^_^

i would consider selling the drive train seperatly as a full conversion for an e30, i would also sell the rims seperatly given the right offer.

    Pics:

    My showroom thread

    prices:

    Whole car: $8,500 ono

    Complete m30b35 conversion for e30: $ 3,000 (everything needed)

    Wheels: $1,500

    Body (if engine sells): $4,000

  12. Cheers for the comments, been along time getting it to where it is

regrettably it is now for sale... i have started training as a commercial pilot and i no longer have the time and money to keep it.

so if your interested in the whole car, or the full 3.5 ltr conversion for ur e30 or just the rims PM me.

it is a genuine nz new m325i which has had about 10k spent all up.

  13. Hey all,

i had a project thread for this car but was never any good at making good and regular updates.

so anyway below are some pics of the car as it is now.

its a NZ New Diamond Schwartz M325i

    with:

    An m30b35 from an e32

    paired with a 5-speed from an M10

    lengthend m325i driveshaft

    stock 3.64 LSD

17x8 (front) and 17x9 (rear) 'seiken' (?) rims

10mm custom spacers front and 5mm rear

king springs all round (want to get rid of these as soon as i can afford better ones).

    all brand new brake discs/pads

so apart from the above, the car is pretty standard and nothing much more will be done as i have just moved to hamilton to study at CTC Aviation.
