  1. Could offer you a used E46 battery in perfect condition. BMW original. No maintenance required (completely sealed). Has a color dot that shows condition of the battery (green=fully charged, black=re-charge, white=throw it in the bin). If you are interested, PM me. Could give it away for $90.
  2. All newer BMWs can be configured to use a flexible Service Intervals. If the right engine oil is available (LongLife Oils) in this country, it's best to use that. The car has several sensors which measure the oil quality and driving style, ... If selected, you can drive up to 25000km without having a service. It will probably reduce if conditions are not optimal. For other countries service intervals of 15 or 10k can be selected. These are fixed ones! 5000km was used 20 years ago, no modern car needs to have an ouil change every 5k, except high performance cars like Ferrari, Lamborghini etc.
  3. My friends, probably NOBODY in NZ can nick a BMW, but don't ever think moving to Europe. Even the most recent German cars are nicked a few days after they are on the street. And they Don't tow it away! The immobiliser from BMW has been cracked, and can be easily bypassed (especially the old ones). They showed it on TV in Germany. Takes exactly 30 sec. until the engine is running. You just can feel save because there is no big market for German cars to be stolen and re-used. You can't bring them out of country. The only thing what can happen here is that someone wants to have a little joy. So yes, you can feel quite save here in NZ.
  4. I have similar problems with my Transmission. Nobody of the so collaed 'Specialists' is able to say where the problem is. Even the BMW here in W... is not able to identify the faulty part. The problem is that as soon as the car is from 2000 and on, nobody seems to have experience with these high tech cars. That's the problem. So I would recommend buyingt either an older model or a brand new one, where you have a guarentee with it.

  6. I just can tell you, 150k is nothing for a Diesel. They run twice the distance without any engine problems. Regarding the BMW engine, the 320d (before facelift) has 310NM available. If you want that on a petrol car, you'd need at least a V6 with a 3l engine, or even bigger, to have the same torque available. The petrol consumption is between 6 and 8l max. You'll never do that with a petrol car. The only drawback is that the 2000 model has only 136HP, but you cannot go faster than 100 anyhow (legally). It accelerates better than any other comparable petrol car and that's what makes it so interesting. Good mileage, sufficient top speed (>210) and top accelaration between 80 and 120. You just should be sure that the car has been services regularly, otherwise you could have problems with the fuel injectors or the turbo.
