  1. Well... Thought id give you all a quick update at where i'm at. Was incredibly close to purchasing the 330 that i initially posted about, but was forced to withdraw today due to the fact that i'm off to beijing for work early next month and being that im a contractor im not entirely sure where i'll be at financially until i return. And being that it was pretty much the first I had seen, probably won't hurt to shop around a little... Basically looking to purchase on return. Will be scouring the internet while im away, so if you could let me know if you see any black 330ci m sport coupes in manual (yes have also been somewhat swayed in this department, but in saying that the step is a very good compromise and probably the best implementation of an AUTO trans that I have experienced). Later year the better, actually like the grey alacantra trim on the seats, but not gonna say no to leather, MF steering wheel, no wood grain anywhere to be seen etc.. Will consider anything up to 30k...

  2. Thanks again for all the in depth feedback and advice, I also agree about the steptronic, manual is fantastic when driving on the limit but no fun sitting in auckland traffic moving at 5km/h. It really feels like it is the best compromise given my daily driving conditions. Again the leather would be great, and does add a real luxury feel to the car without a doubt. However not at all essential (for me) the car virtually has all the options i'm after in that it has, the carbon trim, sunroof (huge plus for me), is black :) is sitting at a perfect ride height (imo), has clear indicators, m3 style mirrors (bonus), electric seats, low kms's, flawless body and paint....

I don't agree about these being common though, is the only black 330ci for sale in the auckland region at least (that I know of). But yeah, I will be making a decision tomorrow about Peters car. So will keep you posted. Absolutely cannot still believe what 25-30k will get you these days. This really is a dream car for me, but am trying in earnest to not let that cloud my judgment.

Other quick question while im here, what do you think the potential resale value of something like the one im looking at be like in a years time?? There is a distinct possibility I may be heading overseas semi-permanently come winter next year and am interested to hear opinions on whether or not it will hold its value. Likely only put 7000kms max on it in that time period.

    End.

  3. Manual is would make the car 100% better IMHO , Steptronic is retarded, My car has the up down shift thing and would get annihilated threw a tight section of road by a much lesser manual car because of it. If you enjoy driving a manual is the better choice, not to mention future resale.

Black manual coupe v in top condition hard to find not to mention the additional premium i would need to pay to secure it, i really didnt mind the steptronic, maybe its different in yours but seemed very adequate....

  4. Not a bad example, plus black is a great colour for the car.

Hunted down an expired listing. It was a $1 reserve, these are always good for ascertaining the true value of a car. Closed now but it gives you some idea around price.

Pretty much exactly like the one you are thinking about but with leather, multifunction wheel and is NZ new.

Cheers for all your input. Actually really like the suede? seats. And multifunction steering wheel would be nice, but not exactly essential. If I can get this one for the right price I think I will own it, post a thorough inspection. It also has bigger brakes w slotted rotors, and the suspension set up is very well done, was certed on arrival, original suspension was going to go back in but they were advised against it, due to it being a step backward... Also has carbon intake m3 mirrors etc. All stuff i would probably look at doing myself, and lose money on undoubtedly. the interior is pretty much like new. It really is hard to fault. But please continue to persuade me otherwise, the more input the better.

  5. Well... What about this one? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=159182035. Have had it overnight and appears to be immaculately kept. It has all of the original parts including air box wing mirrors stock suspension, and the list goes on. Really hard to fault. Love the interior combination also. How much better would a manual be? I mean I would love one but the steptronic transmission seems really good, and finding one in the colour and interior combination i want, for the right price will be alot more difficult.

  6. Hey bro, welcome to Bimmersport.

20-45k.. A high km Auto Crapanese import could be had for under 20.

Quite a broad spectrum in price, cant really see a 2001 fetching 40k - but hey i would not know ;)

Am hoping to find a decent example for around the 30 mark. What do you think of the choice? Anything else in this marque worth looking at in the same price bracket. Have had a drive of the 330ci and absolutely loved it - will not be looking at anything but BMW, so yeah, is basically a case of which BMW...

  7. Hi, am relatively new to the forum and looking at getting into one of the above, just wondering what you would expect is a fair price to pay for a low kms example (import), which is in good mechanical nic, with tidy body paint interior etc.... Steptronic or manual, not fussed. Given that its a real buyers market, they seem to be a cracking choice in terms of value for money. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Churr.
