  1. Hi, the body colour looks great with the houndstooth fabric. Just a small niggly question, did you mean to type in tech1 wheel? The image supplied shows a tech1 and not tech2.

Best of luck for the sale, a bit higher priced than what you see on the likes of trademe, but from what I see a very very tidy and a much better maintained cabrio.

Yip sharply spotted, that pic was before the M Tech 2 addition, it cost $650 odd but a worthy upgrade, better looking and feel (wider and smaller) which suited my long kegs :-), I realise this won't be the cheapest but given it's history and condition, I expect someone will see it for what it is - a really good example of a great soon to be classic , hey a new roof can cost a few K alone :-) Cheers !

  2. Is there a E30 with a better history? Bought new from Coombes Tauranga by a middle aged lady, after 20years she sold it to her daughter (by then she was middle aged) I bought it 6 odd years ago (also middle aged) and have cared for the car like the collector it will soon become (i previously owned a very rare 1981 E21 323i Baur Cabrio). Everything has been done to keep her in top shape, all receipts and spends documented, serviced and maintained by renowned BM specialists AutoBahn Trnga.

Always garaged, used as a Sunday car - can't recall driving her in the rain, always idled for 10 before a drive, this car has been very well looked after. New roof, shocks, cambelt changed (+water pump) at 148 kms, BBS wheels refurbished and powder coated, dashboard and switch gear immaculate. M Tech 2 steering wheel imported from Germany - much better look and feel, and smaller for those with long legs.

The sound of this motor in manual 5 speed is pretty special.

Details: 153kms, ABS, central locking, Pioneer CD player with aux in, 15inch BBS "basket weaves" (225/50R15 rear, 205/55R15 fr).

Upholstery is herringbone cloth in very good condition.

There is the odd nick and scratch on the side panels, the rest of the paintwork is in excellent condition, current rego and WOF.

I'm selling as I no longer have the time to use her, this car would suit a collector or someone who enjoys soft top motoring in a neat retro sports car.

I would love this car to go to a member who will appreciate her condition and history

    Asking 10k FIRM.

Text or call for more pix and info (can not upload any more pictures).

  3. Cheers for all the inputs guys, seems the juries very much split on whether they do anything.

I'm just looking at options to put abit more lead in her pencil. She's mint and 100% NZ new original so am reluctant to consider major mods, though I'd consider minor reversible upgrades that stick close to original. Ideas?

Obvious go to is exhaust but she sounds real original sweet as she is.

    Thnx.

  4. Im not convinced that ANYTHING is 'good' for the old vinyl, apart from keeping it out of the heayt and UV.

My 1985 318 was a very low km 1 owner when i got it, which fantastic un-retouched paint, but the dash was the worst I have ever seen..... Made me think that batch quality control in the vinyl wasnt too fab, or something along those lines.... ie. if it is still good it may well stay good.

    Thanks mate heres hoping :-)

  5. Cheers Ross, have to agree, my vert is garaged and only gets out for decent drives, summer I put on a dashmat (which tends to wanna leave at 120+), dash is perfect but I do wanna keep her polished up - verts insides get more noticed. Am keen to share 'vert type things if you want, your 327i sounds interesting??

Mines NZ 5sp 148kms, totally original (2nd owner)

  6. The Alpinas will be for sale as soon as i get my new wheels on.

I'll let you know when i do, but theres a few guys that have already asked me for them B)

Cheers Andrew, couple of questions: 16 inch? condition? straight fit onto my std E30 (89 convertible) or do they need spacers adapters etc?

    Keep me posted (0275485484).

  7. Bought these a few weeks ago but have other things i want to do now.

    Set of 4x 15 inch BBS RS's.

They come with 4 centre caps and 120 new brand new bolts. They have new centre cap emblems still with plastic.

One is disassembled other one is partially disassembled.

Was going to get them refurbed and custom painted to gold but i want to do something else now.

Just want what i paid for $1100

Parts i need that i would consider trades plus cash for:

    4x 205 or 195 40 17 inch tyres.

    5 Stud conversion

    E36 Lowering Springs.

    Prefacelift Foglights.

[/quote Nice wheels an good luck ! I'm more interested in those magnificent Alpinas in your signature pic. What do I need to consider finding a pair of these for my 325 vert (currently on SirE30's ex 15inch BBS's) ?

  8. Hey guys I need some fabrication work done on my car, this includes custom reinforcement/ new rear subframe mounts and rear strut tower bracing on my e36. Question is who would be the best person/company to do this work? I live in the Rotorua/Tauranga region; let me know who you recommend.

For my money the best BM guy in Trnga (and beyond) is Julian who runs Autobahn in the Mount. He's got a long history working Bm's and if he can't help he'll know who can.

  9. At the risk of Ollie's wrath, thought I would post up a link to my TradeMe auction for any Bimmersport audio / cinephiles that might appreciate a high-end DVD player.

    http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=286300338

I had the player up and running last night as a demo for one of the bidders and remembered what a great sounding player it is, almost wanted to withdraw the auction and keep it, but the cash will come in most handy for my E30 Series engine re-build.

Still waiting for a 'vert understander to share/ask etc ,we'r few and far between...027548 5484

  10. I know it is a beautiful car. But isn't it around double what a 325 Touring goes for? Or is this a genuine Motorsport or something?

Wow mate, bit like selling your sister! She even looks great with the (my) old Weaves on.

Cars like yours have a value based not just on what other similar examples are going for, but also for the rare care and attention to detail that SW6565 has enjoyed both external and mechanically. Some lucky buyer will spot this.

Is there a more eye catching E30 out there..?

    Good luck mate!

  11. Yup, ended up winning the auction at $350 but did not have to recover it as it was in pretty good nick.

Funny enough I popped into a wrecker last week and he had one for sale, snapped it up and rocking a tech-2 in the 340 now :)... if only I was so lucky to find a kit!

This one will need to be re-covered soon though as it's a bit worse for wear.

Right place right time eh! Back to size etc, arrogant US trader tells me that 370 mm is the smallest Mtech2 original, my MT 1 measures 380mm, perhaps some black leather restorer and I should stick with my pretty bloody good MT1??

Have always thought after the loud pedal the "joystick" is the most intimate link to the machine. Metch 2 still has the appeal - smaller thicker and more modern! Ouch...!
