  1. Hi All

I'm looking for a couple of things for my 2003 convertible m3 and was wondering if anyone was able to help.

    1. I'm looking for angle eye's for my head lights

    2. A e46 m3 bad boy bonnet with air vents at the top (as per attached photo)

    3. I'm contemplating on a wide body kit or a M3 GTR body kit.

Does anyone know where i can get these 3 things from and the costs?

The type of hood I'm after (although this doesn't have the air vents at the top):

  2. Hi All,

Now this may sound like a stupid question, but as i always say there is no such thing....

I’m a bit confused ( ) as to whether I should be using 91 or 98 fuel in my M3. I was reading a post here

http://www.theautochannel.com/news/2006/04/16/004226.html and it stated that it uses 91....Now I’ve been using 98. Is it better to use 91 for my BMW?

I always thought 98 would give you more power and be better for your engine?

  3. Speaker set up in a M3 is the same as 318ci.

Im looking at installing all my gear into our E46 CI, I just wish there was a aftermarket deck that would fit the E46 nicely.

There are a couple that I found but they are dvd/cd/mp3/nav man etc player. However they are all plug and play and cost around the $800 mark. In saying this if you slip a cd player in your car and want the steering controls to work, your looking at an extra $300 on top so kinda makes sense to get the dvd/cd/mp3/nav unit.

  4. Hi Guys/Heino

I'm looking to do the same setup but I had a couple of questions..

    1. How does the sound system sound after you installed the sub and amp. Do you get any distortion or is it a clean sounding system. I went to rapid radio and they said it maybe best to replace the entire system....I dont really like touching the current setup as the speakers on a E46 m3 are installed differently so i would need to drill holes in the door (and I'm not a fan at all)

    2. I'm assuming your setup is that you have just the front speakers and the sub going through the sub?

I really want a better sound system as my BMW doesn't have the harman/kardon setup :(

    Thanks in advance guys....

  5. Thanks all...they are awesome cars. I would highly recommend them to anyone thinking of getting one.

As pointed out i joined in 2008 when i got my z4 but sold it so didn’t have a BMW any more :(

But now I’m back with vengeance :) Bring on the sunny weather!

I saw the red one...looks awesome!

  6. So after selling my Z4, I searched around and brought this. Drives awesome!

Will get some more high quality photos when the sun is out over this xmas period :D

Really looking forward to the big cruises and even considering the cannonball run :)

  7. You don't need a band expander and you don't need any tools.

    Do this:

    1. ign on and radio on

    2. within 10 secs, press and hold SEL (if you have nav) or M (if no nav). Service menu will appear

    3. Scroll through Service Menu with < > or 1...6 buttons (can't remember which, try and see) until AREA=JPN appears

    4. Change AREA to EUROPE or OCEANIA using the 1...6 buttons (maybe repeated presses of 1 required)

    5. Turn radio off, turn ign off to save settings

    Voila!

Thanks jochen! Ill give that a try tonight.

  8. Another one from the UK complaining about NZ's telecommunications network? Used to work for Telecom too eh?

    https://telecom.co.nz/broadband/select/1,10...an&detail=8

Save yourself some money, change plans.

    You sir, fail.

    http://chorus.co.nz/enhancing-the-broadband-network

I saw that telecom have changed their plans. But seems to be a bit backwards....going from unlimited to a 40gig Limit. Whatever happened to their "the internet is now unleashed! All you can have bla bla bla" Campaign

    Re Artical:

This artical is reletivly new. I was there from 2004/5. 2 -3 years before started their much required upgrade. If you read my last post i said "One of the main problems was that Telecom was using very old equipment within the cabinets"

My whole point is that what they are doing now should have happened 7 to 10 years ago. Not 3 years after they decided to aggressively market broadband! If this was the case we would be on par with the rest of the world.

  9. Pretty sure its been said before, but it comes down to Geography. England has a population of 50mil. In a country about the same size as New Zealand, we have a population of 4mil and this is obviously much more spread out. So it is a HUGE investment for telecom to put cabinets in all the suburbs..which is what you need to get ADSL2 and VDSL. The equipment on Vodafones Red Network is capable of VDSL speeds with a theoretical max of about 50mbps I think… but everyone lives to far from the exchanges to take advantage of this(and the service is also not currently offered). I was at Voda head office the other day and did a speed test and it came back at about 45mbps

Theres also not much of an incentive for telecom to put the cabinets up… as there will be legislation passed to un bundle sub-loops, like the local loops, so Vodafone will just use telecoms investment to their advantage.

I would say that within the next 2 years, everyone that wants to have VDSL will be able to get it, but the price will be up high.

One of the main problems was that Telecom was using very old equipment within the cabinets. Thus these cabinets couldn’t handle the load. Also it was an actual stated fact that Telecom where allocated more than the recommended amount of people per ADSL line. If they had spent the time to upgrade the cabinets currently out there, then we wouldn’t have been where we are today.

I would say that VADSL will be out of most kiwis reach for at least 4 years. Although the technology is there it’s a simple economic rule of adopters VS cost. The less technology adopters there are the more the service will cost.

  10. I’m sorry but NZ broad band is the slowest and most over priced I have ever seen. I was in the UK paying 18pounds/month for a 13mb line and unlimited usage. Now before people make the common mistake of saying "that’s $40NZish" it came to around 1.2% of my monthly pay. Over here I'm paying $120/month for a 3mb line and only 20gig limit. Now that’s 3% of my monthly pay. That’s a massive jump. Both are ADSL2 so they are using the same service/technology.

The problem in this country is that Tele-crap is so greedy they never invested into their infrastructure until roughly 3 years ago (I used to work for them). They had this massive campaign for New Zealanders to uptake broadband and yet they had a 3rd world infrastructure. This is the reason why it was so slow when it first came out. Also it’s the same reason why they can’t offer unlimited any more. Their exchanges just can’t handle the demand! It’s been an ongoing battle and frankly it’s going to take around 5 years for us to remotely catch up to the rest of the developed world! Its ridicules that this countries majority users are on Dial Up!!!!

This also applies to our cell phone networks to.....we are overpaying......how a country of 4 million people generate a 2.3ish billion market for cell phone use means only one thing....we are getting ripped off!

    My rant for the day!

  11. Thanks guys!

I was going to sell it and get either an m3 or z4M but decided to hold off for now. Besides with the NZ summer here it the perfect time to have a Z.

In regards to the supercharger, after talking to Glen (really helpfull member/nice guy) im going to give up on that dream. haha

  12. Every ECU is intergrated by Canbus & software ABS SRS LKM ASC DME EGS etc etc .... you will not get anything to work.

It would be cheaper to keep the car you've got and go buy the car you want.

After 1998 most cars can not have engine swaps for road use with out spending more than what the two cars would cost to buy.

    Thanks for the info Glenn.
