  1. I just bought a Galaxy Note, which is waiting to clear customs (couriered via Hong Kong) and will be my first

Android. My first 'Smart Device' was a 3GS then the 4. I'm feeling adventurous/nervous as my Laptop is Mac Book Pro, but I have blind faith in my ignorance - as - it's a smart phone, it will work it all out......right? ps... I loved the iphone but for my work the Note will open up more opportunities and I have been learning of the better synching functions (apps etc...) between Apple and Android products to make this transition easier. Horses for courses or gambles for shambles? I'm excited about a change.

I use the note, upgraded from an Iphone4, its not very easy to txt off if you're used to the iphone, doesnt really feel as reponsive despite having almost 3 times the hardware...

Other than that, its a really fun phone, I love drawing and the S-pen is awesome, and being able to cut things out fromm sites and scrapbook them is really neat especially with the huge screen. HD movies and stuff run perfect on it too.

I'm an audiophile as well, and found the yamaha DAC/amp on it is terrible, 500$ audio technica headphones dont pair with it very well at all, and the stock media player is terrible. Got a cool app called cloudskipper which made the sound alot better but still not as good as the iphone 4 did.

Also making calls off it, prepare to get laughed at. :D

  2. Age & Mileage = uneconomical to repair unless you can do it all your self. It also has the Jatco which would also give you problems for the very same reasons. 18 year old car with high mileage....your call though... I'd cut my loses and move on

Thanks heaps for the fast reply Glenn, I've seen you on here alot and really respect your opinion, I have access to an engine hoist etc but no way near confident enough to swap a motor over or even be sure of what to look for when buying one.

Basically should I just sell it and start looking for another? What kind of price should I list it for, they're usually 5k working so I guess 1500 would be pretty reasonable considering its got new tyres and springs etc.

Its a real shame, I always have terrible luck with cars, get them inspected before buying and something always goes wrong a month later hahaha! Would you personally think the repairs/replacement motor would go over 3-3.5k? I know the motors are usually 1200ish in "good" condition.

  3. Car : M325i Automatic E36 Coupe. (1994)

Full mtech kit/interior, Mtech suspension with H&R lowering springs, M3 Rep mags.

Car was assembled in Japan, so has the JATCO automatic transmission.

Symptoms before the engine blew; Slight grinding noise when idling, then a loud crunch/chainsaw noise and the engine seized in my driveway after a week of no use)

Basically I'm posting this for some advice and where to go from here.

Last year my M50b25 decided it was time to give up, and seized, I'm not too sure what caused it but when I pulled the head off the cams had grind marks on them, oil was clean but the viscous fan has also bent foward into the radiator (shearing off a couple of blades and the fan shroud, no visible damage where it hit the radiator apart from the shroud).

The engine is basically shot, and I'm in need of another M50b25 but I'm not sure where to start looking for one that hasnt done a ton of K's and been thrashed to death. Also if its even viable to just swap another motor in, whilst this is being done I'd like the Aircon removed also (its broken and I never use it anyway, used to own a 300zx so used to things never working).

Also another issue with the car before the engine blew up is that the front camber is 1degree off, making it pull to the left when braking hard, went for an alignment and with/without the lowering springs it has the same problem, the alignment guy said it couldn't be fixed but wasnt sure what was causing it.

The car has done 183,000k's, and I'm quite keen to fix it, but as I come from a Nissan/jap car background I have no idea:

    A) who the "best value" workshop would be

    B) where to source a reliable motor from (I dont want to blow up another)

and C) Is the car worth fixing, idealy I want to add coil overs to it when this work is being done and then get a cert on top of that, as I love how it currently handles but it could still be a bit stiffer..

Some advice on what to do would be really appreciated, I had a mechanic who used to work on my old E32 735i (which I loved) but he wont touch a vanos motor. Any ball park figures on price for what I want also would be a major help as I've been saving for a month and got recently promoted at my work!

I'm not fussed on resale value also, as I really like this car, its in the color I want (black) and I'm not sure I want to buy into another E36 except as a potential donor car.

  4. My current M50b25 is making some kind of grinding noise from the cam chain (front of the engine) and I think its a bit stuffed, still runs okay and drives fine but that noise is horrible.

Has anyone got any under 130,000ish k's M50b25's(VANOS) for sale or a M52b28 with loom?

My car is a 1994 e36 m325i with the jatco auto trans (japanese assembled).

  5. Yep got them from trademe.

and from time to time I use them if I need to help dad. I just like the look of them, its not like I go racing around anyway so the aero dynamic factor doesn't really bother me much.

The tail lights are definately not me, but mags + roof racks = LOVE, looks mean man, the car was amazing when you first got it but I love the mods you've done!

  6. Oh wicked man, yeah im staying down there just until exams are finished, would be cool to check the photos out

Lol met you the other day! I'll edit them and chuck them up man, lol my broken ass e36 looks nothing next to this car.

And yeah got the plates off Jarrod he's my best mate aye lol they're a bit infamous..

Will get them in euro once I've sorted the billion issues with my car :D

  7. Snapped a few pics of your car with my huge DSLR rig whilst it was parked on my road, you park right next to my house might have seen a black GTR (8T9GTR) or my black E36 with the numberplate YOUMAD, this car is even better in person I can upload the pics if you like, nothing fancy just off the street but edited up and looks really nice !

If you ever want a photoshoot done of the car or anything since I'm right next door just pm me I'd be more than happy to do it!

  8. Of course guns aren't a toy to be used to relieve anger. Priority number 1 is safe use that puts no person or property at danger. If there is any doubt of danger to any person or property, through ricochet or otherwise the shot is never taken.

If all the safety considerations are met then what on earth is wrong with shooting off a few rounds (to reiterate: safety being first priority) to relieve some stress? Please enlighten me.

I would have zero issue with a firearms officer reading this. Shooting sh*t is fun - Nothing to be ashamed of there. That's why people get guns and pursue hunting as a hobby.

I do enjoy killing rabbits, not taking that back... the thrill of the chase as they say. Is it for everyone? Of course not. But at the end of the day, they are an introduced pest. As long as they are shot humanely (head/vitals) then there is no issue in terms of suffering to the animal.

Yeah Polley, impressing you is my main pursuit in life. xoxo

You'll usually find on public forums alot of people will take an instant hate to any gun talk. I agree about it being therapeutic I used to love lining up cans at my uncles farm and blasting them then hunting possums at night, was pretty much my entire childhood, on a side note I wouldn't even try to keep guns in an apartment building, definately leave them at your old mans and locked up.

On that note though, I'm not sure why they read the thread to begin with.

  9. I ride a stupidly geared BMX from Devonport to Smales farm every day and back again, was hard as the first few weeks (rear driver is 9 tooth..), but feel alot better now, way more energy and alot fitter than I was.

Total ride takes about 45 mins there and 30 mins back since its mostly downhill on the way back.

  10. ha yeah I live near him always see it

Hahahha what the hell is the point of that wing, extreme downforce, should chuck one on an E32 and take corners at 100kmph without traction control on. Those tail lights make me sad =\, its like gangsta cyborg car 3000.

That gold grill looks tuff as, probably 50hp gain from the numberplate being moved.

  11. Then get pwned when the guy in his passenger seat pulls out a petrol powered chainsaw out of the boot.

or to make your situation worse they drive a tad bit forward and your USB extension cable limits you Lol.

Hahhahah dont want to meet your mates... =S

By the way your car looks freaking awesome =D you guys ever seen one of those USB rocket launcher things? They fire some crappy dart, we had some guy at work that has one that used to always shoot it at you as you walked by, so 3 of us got nerf guns and unloaded on him, he stopped that pretty quick, anyone else with stuff like this at work? <_<

  12. I've had many interesting calls to insurance companys, get as far as asking what engine is in my car and my age.

"So what kind of car is it?"

    "A Nissan 300zx"

"And what engine is in that?"

    "3 litre v6 twin turbo..."

    "how old are you again..?"

Also always get asked if its got the targa tops, which it does, last quote I got was like 1500 full cover from NAC though but never got the contract etc, trying to get insurance this week for her again as I've finally finished fixing it, guess my only option is NAC again.

  13. E32 750i is like my dream car hahhaha, I want to get one really bad but haven't seen any decent examples come up for a while, and they've usually done 200billion k's.

    One day..

Also second car I ever owned was a e32 735i which I loved to bits.

When they're working they are just so nice!

If anyone knows where to start looking for a nice 750i e32 and tips etc on what to look for please pm me!
