  1. Thats not really right. Mines a '99 with the EWS system. It is fully alarmed. Tilt sensor, interior sensors, alarm + of course the immobilizer.

sydawyz e30 is correct . ews is just an immobilizer , dwa is the alarm system . not all bmw's have dwa ( jap imports for example ) . they are seperate systems .

  2. Hi

Just got back from Dunedin, just as I was leaving the Orange engine light came on and car started idling very rough. Also not it's usual smooth self on the cruise back.

The manual says - "Deterioration of exhaust emission control valves".

    What exactly does that mean?

Is this a DIY fix or do I need to get my friendly local garage to fix...

    Thanks in advance

    Tim

    hi tim

sounds like either poor combustion ( misfire ) or an air leak . best to get the fault memory read by someone who has diagnostic equipment .

  3. Ah crap. My windscreen washers have stopped working on my E90.

When you pull the control to activate them it makes the noise like where it is trying to pump the water out of the jets but only a small trickle (barely enough to hit the screen) comes out. This is happening for both nozzles.

Initially I thought it was out of water but I topped up the reservoir to the max but it still didn't fix the problem.

    Any ideas?

Oh, a happy new year to all.

i agree with jochen , a common fault , we see it all the time .

  4. Hi there.

I bought my Bm privately, and was led to believe it had cruise control.

It has the cruise control sign on the dash by the speedometer. But the steering wheel is just a standard one with no cruise control button...so do you think my steering wheel has been replaced or...

    Thanks.

    hey there ,

if you give me your chassis / vin number , i can tell you what your vehicle is fitted with as standard from factory .

  5. Welcome to the forum :D

    Where are you from ??

You seem to be very product knowledgable (spelling ??)

south africa , but have been a kiwi for the last 6 years . i am a bmw tech and have been for the last 17 years , ill help in any way i can . i work at jc bmw in takapuna - great place to be .

  6. it wont change the milage display in your instrement cluster , but the milage stored in the 2nd hand lcm will be different to the displayed milage and this will cause the manipulation dot to be activated in the cluster . the 2nd hand unit will fix the light problem , but you may be creating another by having the manipulation dot activated .

  7. just some info for you to consider : a 2nd hand part may not be the best idea . your milage is stored in the " light check module - lcm " . if you fit a 2nd hand part , a warning light is activated in your instrement cluster . this could lead to complications when trying to sell the vehicle " milage tampering " .
