Thanks Guys, I have found that Repco sell the correct BMW boots to make up a plug lead so I will try it with and without and post my findings here later.

Hi, Can anyone tell me what the sensor is around the number 4 plug lead on my E30 M40 318i, is this essential as I need to replace the lead and wonder if I can use a standard lead. Thanks Marcus
