  1. 3 pedals. You are correct, but also missing the point in my view.

I used to put my coffee down on the transmission tunnel and drive to work and not spill a drop. No cup holders in sight. The ride is fantastic and they keep up with modern traffic.

When we would off road everyone would want to pile into the rangie rather than have their teeth shaken out in the back of a landcruiser.

Great trucks, ownership is a holistic experience that your facts and figures just can't capture.

Similar to BMW ownership in someways.

    Cheers.

  2. Hmm - query - Waimak. As in Waimak out near Chch by chance?? If its the place you are meaning, I'd be real keen to know when ya were last out that way - I went back earlier this year, & was just shocked at what's changed out there........ :(

It has been 5+ since I lived in CHCH, and it has changed a lot over the last 20 years. I used to ride motorbikes out there a lot. Military zone was(still is?) the best.

The access down there has been greatly reduced, no wonder though with all the idiots down there chucking rubbish out and ruining the stock banks. Spent a lot of time out there 4WDing as well in my old Range Rover.

Great resource to have so close to the city however, 15mins away compared to driving out to Woodhill to go for a blast (which is only 45min so not to bad).

You can still go crazy in a jet boat down there however!

  3. In the day you were able to tow a car with no WOF that could not be started, we used to remove the battery. Can't remember if it had to be reg or not but it didn't need a warrant.

This is how we used to get out to the Waimak with old cars to "practice" rally driving. This was 20+ years ago so may not be relevant anymore.

The point is if it was on the road being readied to be towed....long shot.

  4. You can buy a scan tool pretty cheap, just have to fiddle getting it setup on a PC, and away you go. Handy for next time too ;)

Yes ideally this is what I would do, had a look at Carsoft.

But as per usual I've left it till the last minute and my warrant is due the end of the week, so on a bit of a tight timeline.

    Cheers.

  5. I want to replace what ever is at fault with my 1998 BMW E36 328i's air bag system.

Last time I had it scanned and reset the light stayed off for over a year so didn't bother to fix.

Time has come to rectify the problem this time around.

I like to do the DIY thing but keen to get a scan done so I replace the correct part and also probably need to get the reset done after the part is replaced.

Anyone in central Auckland who can help with a scan and reset?

Your help is appreciated. Can do beer or cash.

  6. same as above comments! jump and landing sideways was interesting. did anyone notice it was a redbull rider on the MX bike, but Block is sponsered by Mother?

Travis Pastrana, has been with red bull for some time.

  7. Yes thanks hotwire.

At this point I'm leaning towards one of these http://www.hyper.co.nz/drive/audio/head-un...d/13967/product

Looks to be the most cost effective option as it would otherwise add up by the time I got a replacement BMW CD business unit and a DICE unit.

Obviously I'll need a DIN fitting kit but it would hopefully tie in fairly well with the orange lights.

Any ideas as to what else would be needed such as wiring loom adapters? Any other feedback appreciated.

    Many thanks!

I have one of these or similar in an e36, good functionality etc, my biggest gripe is the display is very faint when looking at it under sunny conditions.

    Something to be aware of.

I have tinted windows so this doesn't happen that often for me.
