  1. Hi guys as my username says I’ve had this vehicle for 10 years and only done 41k in it. Been garaged as a second car for a long time. Will come with new wof and 12 month rego.

188k nz new, Oxford green, beige leather, service history new cooling system, factory roulette alloys. Runs and drives great sad to see it go, open to offers.

Advice the pre 2000 model e39 sedans seem to be falling off the road and hard to sell at present and at really low values. Is this the general consensus?.

The wagons seem to be asking $3k plus not sure what this is worth is $2600k a fair price?

  2. Hi guys. Any help appreciated here, Here are symptons of my trans potential issue.

    1. Is very tall in first when cold changes to 2nd at 3500rpm and when i'm at 40k.

    2. I have had to use the tiptronic or manual part to change into 5th when doing 100k as it seem to be sitting at 2500rpm so dropped to 1700 odd once in 5th, had to do that a dozen times not all the time.

    3. Has started not dropping back in to 1st when stopped at lights done this a few times probably half a dozen times then takes off slowly pinking abit because it's in 2nd or even third, then realises and kicks down and gives the diff a whack while it's at it.

181k kiwi new so I might explore BMW service records if they have changed the trans fluid but it looks like the lifetime seal sticker is still in tact.

    Suggestions please.

  3. e39s' need DIN88 because of load requirements from gearbox solenoids, control modules and other power requirements. The alternator cant supply the load all of the time especially when its cold. It has nothing to do with cold cranking amps. I found out the hard way when I first bought my e39.

Sorry if it sounded a bit know all but only trying to educate.

Hi Josh I hope you read this saves starting a new thread, but the car died last night or wouldn't start again not even the flat battery tick, was going to PM you. As it turned out the positive terminal was loose as, and since I've tightened it all good. Started easy, what is it with DIN88 though correct size terminal? pretty sure I tightened it when I installed was loose as though, why does it need 88?

  4. Well I got my E39 back on the road after sitting for 2 years in storage. Took it for a wof and oil and filter change. Flew through wof registered for 6 months and $50 fuel and a new battery.

$460.00 all up and back on the road - bloody lovely nice car.

    Battery was $231 Exide DIN66

Interestingly it was still on hold until 19 August this year so when I registered it online it gave me 7 months rego from the 19 onwards - remember that next time.
