  1. 3 spoke, non-airbag steering wheel, I believe it is from an e36 (possibly also a late e34??). BMW part number 11590659. Leather is in good condition, needs a good clean after sitting in my shed for many years. Pickup in West Auckland, $20.

  2. Hi all, does anyone know what the part number is for a clutch slave cylinder to suit a Getrag 262 4 speed out of an e12? I have one fitted to my 628csi, but I am not sure what year it was out of so I can't search on realoem. Cheers, Ben.

  3. Hiya,

Does the car have any other issues you're aware of....leaking coolant, engine oil, rough gear changes etc?

It did drive fine, the gearbox had been serviced by the previous owner before I got it, engine runs well. I replaced the radiator as it had a cracked hose fitting on the plastic tank. Hopefully I might get a chance to replace the seal this weekend. The battery is on charge at the moment, but I am not sure if it will charge up or not.

  4. Hi all, I won an auction for another car on TradeMe last night, and I will get in BIG trouble if I don't sell one!

I have a '92 740i with some Hartge mods on it. Apparently this was Jerry Claytons own drive car when it was new, and he had Guido (his service manager at the time) fit the lowered suspension, Hartge 16" alloys and do some fiddling with the engine management to get more power out of it (this is the story I was told by the previous owner).

I have all of the service history from new, it was serviced first by Jerry Clayton BMW, then later on by Locher European / BMWorkshop. Has a sunroof, towbar and all of the other goodies usually fitted to the top end models. It has done just under 200,000km, interior is in good condition; grey leather, outside needs a good wash.

The car has been sitting for a while because it has an ATF leak out of the transmission output shaft seal, I think. I haven't had it up on the hoist to have a good look where it is coming from- the leak is at the rear end of the gearbox. I keep buying cars instead of fixing the ones I have got! The battery has died since it has been sitting, so it will probably need a new one.

I am looking for offers around $2000, but I need to move it quick so make me an offer!

These pics are from TradeMe when I bought it so are a few years old now, the car still looks the same, just a bit dirty.

  5. WOHOOO Cheap family project car =) just saw this and im leading the bidding =DDDDD

Would you still take Bimmersport buy nows?

I better not since it has reached reserve. You may end up with a bargain though- it will be interesting to see how the bidding goes.

    Cheers, Ben.

  6. Sorry to those who replied- I haven't had a spare weekend for a while. I do have this weekend free though, if you want to have a look at the car, please give me a ring on (021) 259 9837. I am open to offers as I need the space! ;-)

    Cheers, Ben.

  7. Any more pics of the body?? would b great! how much you wanting for the body?

    0212589005

    cheerz!

It is hard to get in there to take more pics, it is in the back corner of my shed. You are welcome to come and have a look though- I will give you a ring.

  8. Hi all, I decided that I need to sell my m325i- it has sat in the shed in bits since I bought it, and I don't think I will ever get time to put it back together again. I have attached pics- they are not great as the car is in the back corner of my shed, but if you are interested, please come and have a look.

The car is 2 door e30 m325i, with sunroof and manual gearbox. I think it is complete, ie. all the bits are there, but I have never had it together so I can't say for sure. It was involved in a major accident in 1997, and the shell has been repaired. It has been sandblasted and primed, now it needs paint and putting back together.

It has some spare bits with it- 2 sets of tail lights, 2 dashboards in excellent condition with no cracks, and has some sort of sport bumper kit (possibly a repro 'M' kit??).

The engine has a damaged oil filter casting (a bit has broken off) and the drivers side engine mount casting is also broken (have spare)- I am not sure of the condition of the engine otherwise, it would be worth taking the head off and having a look before trying to get it running as it has never been turned over in the 5 years I have had it.

The seats are cloth, and the drivers one has some fraying on the right hand bolster, the rest of the seats look ok.

Rego is long dead, here is the carjam info page: http://www.carjam.co.nz/car/?plate=wbaad12000af55830

I am looking for offers around $1200, but I am not really sure what it is worth, so please tell me if I am dreaming. The car is in Kumeu, and weekends are best to have a look at it.

  9. Glenn, The way I meant it was Cert it for the height it is now - "too low". But ask if I can use standard springs just so the brakes part can be done for the WOF. Then back to the certed low springs afterwards.

Sounds dodgy as but I think that's all i can do.

And yes guys I know, VTNZ suck. But only way I can get my pinky off for this first time is to go through VTNZ so I have no choice..

You may be able to find a workshop that does WOF's with a brake meter- a lot of the smaller WOF shops have them, instead of the rolling brake testers.

  10. Hi all, this is my first post on here, so I hope I am posting in the right place. This is on my '95 e34 525i.

Last night my windscreen wipers stopped dead in the middle of the windscreen. After a long trip home (had to keep stopping as I couldn't see where I was going) I found that the linkage had popped off the crank on the wiper motor.

It looks like the plastic cup that fits on the ball joint has worn away so it doesn't stay on any more, on the drivers side linkage. I made a temporary repair so I have wipers again, but I would like to fix it properly.

Are the plastic cups available new or a whole linkage? It doesn't look like the plastic part can be replaced separately? Is this a common problem on e34s? It looks like the sort of thing that is designed to break.

On a side note, I decided that I need to fix my 740i, I have 17 cars, and the 525i is the only one that is going and has a WOF at the moment!

    Thanks for your help, Ben.
