  1. Hey Guys,

I know this is a common issue on this model of car, but driving my car feels like a trip in a saggy marquis.

Are you guys able to suggest places that i could have my hoodlining replaced by and perhaps if possible reasonable prices i should be expecting.

I am in auckland, and would prefer places that are reasonably nearby (Western Springs area).

Thanks ahead for any suggestions and inputs!

  2. Hi guys,

I have a 1995 e36 328i, which has had an issue with shudders or shimmying at high speeds (i.e. 80-100kph)

I have just had the rear top shock mounts replaced and this has drastically improved the shimmy at motorway speeds however it still shudders heavily while braking at those speeds. The mechanics have suggested having my rotors machined to fix this issue. Is this likely to be the only cause of the issue, or could other items be involved? Is it worth having the rotors machined, or just replacing the rotors themselves? What are the likely costs of both options?

Thank you for any information you can offer!

    Cheers,

    Tonci

  3. my dads got one of these in white. pretty sure its a twin turbo. awesome car/suv

havent had any problems with it, reverse camera is handy, still has balls despite being diesel.

also all the electrics, ie bluetooth and navigation are easy as to use

  4. Hey guys,

I've got the braking shudder at motorway speeds well known to other members of this forum. I've searched both this forum and google and seen that for some people it is caused by warped rotors, others it was ball joints or lower control arms. is it easiest to have it looked at by Midas or pitstop or similar.

Who would you suggest to have this checked at and what is an acceptable price for having the rotors replaced, including pads etc which may as well be replaced at the same time? and if it is not the brakes whats acceptable pricing for ball joints and LCABS as the alternative fix?

Thanks in advance for suggestions or opinions,

    Tonci

  5. Hey guys,

Just brought an e36 328i coupé that has two minor electrical issues that I was hoping to repair myself if possible. (buying the car made a large dent in the coffers).

First is the passenger side window doesn't work. When opening the door, which should make the window drop a centimetre, this doesn't happen however i can hear a slight noise from the engine. When I had the car checked the guys from McMillan also said that the switch was unplugged also.

So first question is what are the possible causes? I haven't taken the door inner off yet to have a look, mostly because I wouldn't be sure what to look for. Secondly how easily is this fixed and what parts am I going to need.

The second fault is the fan and air-con only working on full speed (speed4), I'm told this is an easy fix as you just replace the switch, where can i purchase this and also how is it removed and replaced?

Alternatively is it better to just have the work done at a local auto-electrican? or will they charge the earth?

    Cheers in advance

  6. hey guys,

im considering buying a e30 325i AUTO and converting it to a manual. my question is that i know alot of people on here have done manual conversions and therefore could indicate how much it would cost, how hard it is to do myself etc.

  7. hey guys, wasnt sure exactly where to post so general it is...

usually when viewing these forums it shows all replies etc on one page, but now it only shows the orginal post and then a list of posts at the bottom and i have to click each one in order to read them.. has anyone else had this? it changed randomly...

any help appreciated. tried looking through the settings but no luck but i might ust be blind

  8. surely for an M5 it would have a different set up to the X6m...? i would have thought so.

as long as the M5 still delivers the performance it is so well known and respected for i dont mind which engine it has.

and on the Baaathursh note i might be a bit guilty... =) holden fan myself

  9. the reason the M5 had a v10 engine in the first place was due to F1 racing team using the engine in their cars, when the rules changed they started making the move away from these engines before they pulled out... hence the v8TT i think it will be a good change, ill sure as hell miss the sound, but a v8tt has a purr that wets the sternest virgins panties. plus power to weight may show an interesting change?
