  1. Back to stock, and have it under your name... Yes you will pay more and Yes you won't be able to modify it, but it will start you off in the insurance history land...

    Also it's under your folks name, so what ever you do effects their insurance... remember that!

    i had insurance on my last car in my name (Mazda Astina 323). and i realise that that's why im carefull until i have the money to get my own insurance :P

  2. Personally i'd take your car back to standard, get 1-2 years of good clean insurance history AND driving history (avoid tickets! they will want to know if you have had any in the last 5 years!) then look at modifing your car... or just modify it in ways that will not effect your insurance.

    Lets put this nicely... if you have modifications not listed on your insurance policy they can (and do) have the right to not cover the car as it is no longer the car they agreed to insure. They run on a tick box system basically:

    mags = yes = tick

    tints = yes = tick

    lowered = yes = tick

    oh sorry you have too many points in our system we can not insure you. I know this as i've just gone through it with my gf's car (2.0 Peugeot 307 - nothing fast or fancy) also we are both over 29 and she has a very clean insurance history/driving history (tickets, fines, etc...)

    your right dude, but to solve this issue i had. put car in dads name under family car, can put any upgrades i want on it now :P

  3. 1 year old 95 Nissan Bluebird SES - drivers rear tyre blew out going around a corner, fished into a bank, launched the car, and then spun 5 times against a row of trees. Bent axles, bent chassis, broken engine mounts, wrapped the radiator around the block...

    was doing 95 in a 100zone when tyre went pop. landed perpendicular to the road across the ditch... it was fun opening the door and falling into the ditch.

    ohhhh siiiiiittttt

  4. mean.

    us young guys getting cheap cars!!!

    scored mine real cheap too bro.

    try getting isurance with NAC.

    i got denied from everywhere else even with a clean record. its just because of my age and the cars been modified.

    i just threw some super lows and 17" chrome on mine and now my insurance is invalid :S

  6. Welcome to the forum, and congrats on your purchase!

    Ellipsoids are a type of headlight found on Facelift e30's such as yours. They are the later type of headlight, and use a projection system.

    "Smoking" is a method of darkening, part of or the entire headlight for nothing but aesthetics, nothing wrong with it, I personally like the look. They are not factory however. You can purchase them direct from Hella, or there are several DIY versions around also.

    Thanks for that, Learn something everyday ehh.

  7. That's pretty tidy eh.

    Best colour for them too.

    Welcome to Bimmersport

    Put where you're from in your profile too, As I may have an alternator that works good for sale soon.

    Thanks mate, But if it costs anymore than $25.00 theres no real point i can do a full service on mine for $30 or get someone to do it with parts for $70. Thanks mate!

  8. Hello Brocky...

    Glad to have you about on the forum...

    I'd hazard a word of caution to mod's on your car at your age... only for the insurance hike your no doubt looking at / potentially not getting insurance...

    I'd check with your insurance company about lowering and increasing wheel size....

    not sure if you have to mention you have add'd a factory bodykit to your insurance or not...

    car looks in good condition tho man...

    Thanks for the heads up, At the moment i only have 3rd party fire theft & windscreen. But i will sure talk to the person at tower about these changer i'd like to make.

  9. Hello there BMW Fans!

    My names Brock & i've recently bought my 2nd car (Bmw E30 320i 1989).

    This is not the best looking e30 in the world but it's mine :), It was a great buy to! only $1000 the only thing wrong with it is the alternator needs servicing (still need to do that) & the front shocks are completly stuffed (purchased some new ones), one door is fully stuffed (someones backed into it, got most of the dent out possible with a hammer and a piece of wood :P).

    What i want to do:

    1. Buy a new drivers door.

    2. purchase some 17" wheels (not sure what yet).

    3. Buy some "low" springs 25-35mm drop.

    4. Buy a M-Tech ii bodykit.

    5. full body paint Gloss Black or FireEngine Red.

    Well heres my old girl:
