Hi everyone, I have been a member for a while but I diverted from owning a bimmer for quite some time. But now I am back in the game and deciding if I should go with a M2. I did own an E92 M3 and bought a new 116i few years ago. overall experience with BMW for me was average. Both with the dealer in Wellington and the cars. I currently own and drive a Porsche, looking to downgrade (price wise), and read through many reviews and watched videos on M2, Did a test drive as well with a DCT (manuals are rare in nz ?). My initial impression was alright, DCT was much nicer than what AMG offers, but behind PDK for sure, Engine and exhaust noise (even pumped through speakers) seemed okay, and handling was good (Steering felt responsive enough). I am also keen to get my hands on a 1M, but can't find one locally in wellington. What is important in a car to me are: 1- Driving sensation - Connection with the car and enjoying driving it all the time( that's why i went Porsche ) 2- Reliability ( New M2 vs. Out of warranty 1M ) 3- Practicality ( two door is fine , but boot space and good size back seats can be handy ) 4- Retaining its value ( I feel M2 is going to depreciate same way A45 AMG did ) 5- Size (Looking for something small , yet alive ) drove M4 and was not impressed at all My question is, anyone in Wellington owns 1M which I could see and get a feel for? Do you recommend 1M over M2 in general? Thanks:)

I thought of that as well. I hardly think a mechanic can do the proper cut on the bumper unless they have a panel beater on site.

Thanks all , will check Maidstone Mufflers. I am sure most place can replace the exhaust but the bumper cutting part is what worried me and they can ruin it. Seen PitStop rush their work and know few unhappy clients so I am hesitant to go with them specially with a new car.

I dont have much experience with any of them. That's why I asked here to see where everyone recommends? Thanks

Anyone?

I am thinking to upgrade my default F20 116i Exhaust to the dual pipe from SuperSprint. The bottom of rear bumper needs to be trimmed for the tailpipes. Is there any trust worthy and reliable Exhaust specialist in Wellington that anyone can recommend for these type of work? Thanks

Would be great if we could have your advice for choosing an e90/e92 M3 as well

Thanks for the offer but I like my M3 with proper working heart

Thanks TJ, seen both of those. Just looking around to see if there are others which might not be listed online

I am selling my 2013 NZ new 116i "Edition 30" in Black Sapphire and Auto. Done only 700KMs and bought it from JG BMW in Wellington. Looking to upgrade to an e92 M3 ( see want to buy section). Car comes with 3 years warranty and in totally brand new condition. Selling it for $45,000. RRP is $52,000 , you will be saving $7000. PM me if interested. Thanks

Hello all, I am looking around for a tidy , well maintained 2007-09 e92 M3 with maximum of 65,000KMS. While I am keeping an eye on Trademe and other sites, I thought to post on here in case someone knows of one, so I have various options. My budget is around $55,000 cash. Please PM me if you can assist. Cheers

Thanks, Not really keen in smart ass comments. Be decent and add in value than just say jargon for sake of making a post. I asked for those with experience related to my question. So if you dont', please be a reader and learn a thing or two.

Thanks for your concern guys for in terms of hookers and blows I shall post in the right forum if i never need assistance . I tend to buy new cars as I tend to see the phrase : one man's junk , other man's treasure, doesnt be applied to me Thats why i work to earn

Seems there is no upgrade for 116i . I keep enjoying what i have and maybe save for a new M3 haha

Thanks , I meant those piggy back modules. so is the ECU upgrade available via the dealer and for F20 116i?
-
Thanks all for relevant response. The power at low RPM is not crap actually at low RPM. Quite responsive for the engine type. I just wanted to get the most out of it by adding some non-intrusive and heavily modified tuning. That's all

Interesting when comparing a thread about a topic like this on a NZ site and a UK site . Thanks all for the info but obviously no joy here . Cheers

Thanks Eagle and JKSE , I believed using the mod will not alter the warranty but I will check with the dealer.

I am not going to be a brainless boy racer Just want to be able to get the most of what the car has offer. So best would be replies from those have experience and tried those products. Thanks

Hi all, I have a 2013 F20 116i auto and was looking around to see if there are some tuning to increase torque and HP. I came across few brands such as Hartge , AC Schintzer and another one , they all seem to be adding some torque and power at very high revs and speed and not much at lower end ( 1500-3500 RPM and between 40-100KM) . I wonder if anyone has any experience with these products and has any recommendations? I havent seen anywhere in NZ having those kits , but it seems easy enough to purchase and install . But are they worth $3k ??? Thanks
