  1. Ok so I have a strange issue with the e61 stereo. I took a trip to a customers place, radio worked all the way there, listened to the cd stacker most of the way, when I restarted the car , the reverse camera works, , the bmw logo appears but the radio never comes up.. the idrive knob still has force feedback but the screen appears to just reboot every few mins.. have checked fuses and they appear to be ok

Some research I have done says I need to find/replace the mpm module, but I can't find it..

car is a 2005 jap import m sport 530i wagon.  About to sell the car as I need a 4wd ute so really want to get it sorted before the sale.

    Cheers

  2. Hi guys,

My car is currently stranded at the local shops, Car would no go after driving to the shops, doesn crank, doesnt ask me to put my foot on the brake (which is pointing to something ...), doesn't make a noice when you turn the key to the start stage.. Have tried a jump battery and its not making any difference, no low voltage warnings or other faults have occurred.

Got roadside assist out, but they were as good as ... you know what.

I have inpa etc etc, and vag com cable and am familiar with basic coding but not fault diagnosis software.. Anyone in auckland do breakdown calls on these things?

Looks like it will be staying at the shops tonight, under watchfull eyes of CCTV cameras, but I will still be nervous..

    Thanks

  3. Hi Guys

I have the CCC wide computer with the Japanese telephone in the center console. What are my options for telephone integration ?

I have looked at the denson (sp) gateway, but it means I have to remove the 6 stack which I am not too keen on. Is there any way I can re-wire the telephone plug to take a bluetooth unit or even plug in my phone ( galaxy note2 )

    Cheers

  4. How difficult is it to actually perform coding on these cars? I have the cable, software and laptop set up but I've not yet had a chance to get into. The various write ups are all a bit daunting.

I want to get rid of the AM option for a start.

Its pretty easy man, Just need a 32bit laptop win7 is fine, with a good battery and a cable like the vag-com. Trick is to take a backup of each trace file when you read from the ecu, I keep the work folder open while working on the car and take a copy of each trace file should you foul things up. The other trick is take note of what version (i guess you would call it) of the module is being read when you execute the SG_Lessen command so if you end up using ncs dummies you can quickly select the right filter to apply to the trace file. saves a bit of time, when I first did it those steps were not in the initial instructions I found on the net.

Some of the modules can be read with the car off, other modules ignition needs to be on - or you mod the cable I beleive into tricking it that the ignition is on, I turned the ignition on and that worked.

Joined this forum and then downloaded the files from here - http://bmwcoders.com/forum/bmw-coding-programming-29/bmw-coding-pack-may-2013-a-1770/

Included everything required including the correct daten files for my e61.

  5. Hi again Matt, I'm glad you are hearing what I've already told you from a totally independent source (hotwire). I bet it doesn't stop you continuing to use your IT skills to try & disrupt my websales though!?!

As my web feedback suggests, I sell what I advertise, unlike our Russian friends already mentioned in this thread...

It is not my responsibility to research what update a Japanese "Grey" import requires, I didn't even know it was a Japanese vehicle till you complained that the update didn't work. It then took me several emails & a photo of your GPS computer before I discovered it was an imported vehicle!

    My website clearly states:

These are the current version's as supplied with new cars sold within Australia & New Zealand

FYI, The clue is in the fact that the word JAPAN is not in the description...!

As for the new FB page listing customer issues, I do not share private/personal info & it's there to help steer others from making the same mistakes all over again. I try to work with all my customers & see the purchase through to a satisfactory conclusion. However my support/sympathy is quickly removed when I meet a client with such a belligerent & entitled attitude after making a mistake, you know you never even admitted the mistake was caused by you not bothering to read the description, you still act as though I should've listed what countries it won't work for even though I only sell in AUS & NZ.

My apologies you feel this way, hopefully someday you'll see what has happened in a different light...

Wow, Look at you Mark, Pretending you actually know the meaning of customer service.

I was lead directly to the BMW page as I have stated http://www.gps.cheapertracks.com/BMW_Australia_V.19.htm - No mention of any domestic market restrictions, but we both know that.

Yes, I did feel entitled that as I paid $74.99 AU for something your website leads people to beleive works - from the way its worded, on all versions of the listed models.

To be honest I thought the site initially looked a bit dodgy as my 12 year old niece designs better websites.

    Bit of background on Mark

Mark also goes by the name of "Pigzmickey" and a quick google search https://www.google.co.nz/?gfe_rd=cr&ei=dbi8U9_TE8iN8Qe-54DIBg#q=pigzmickey brings up pages and pages of google results, A majority of which He poses as a happy customer of his gps.crapertracks.com website and recommends everyone buy his gps discs, then he of course sells his pirated software and runs with the money, Then theres all of the home made porn sites and other stuff, bit of a sick guy, wonder if his wife is aware she is an internet star ?You grubby bugger Mark!

  6. Hi Guys,

Recently bought a navigation DVD from this guy which didn't work.., After reading a lot of positive stories on his facebook page and the blanket statement on his BMW page that I was led to from another forum which reads " These disk's suit: E87 1 series / E90/1/2/3 3 series / E60/1 5 series / E63/4 6 series / E70 X5 / Mini R56 "

I assumed with the above statement like most would that it would work.

I have an 05 Japanese e61 530i motorsport with the CCC full screen

    Link to the page

    http://www.gps.cheapertracks.com/BMW_Updates_Australia.htm

I have done a lot of digging on the net and it appears everyone else gets the same response once something does not go to plan - no response. The guy just takes your money and runs, Any negative feedback posted to his facebook page gets rapidly removed so it appears all is roses on an initial search.

When I got a link for the download a day or so after paying for the software, I found this chap is selling pirated genuine BMW software, which Im pretty sure is illegal.

It didn't work anyway and his response was to contact a dealer, which defeats the purpose of trying to do it on the cheap over the internets! Was not interested in my feedback at all and still advertises the same at the time I have typed this, that it will work for all of the above models with no mention of country of origin. Apparently I need to swap out my Nav computer, which I may do at some point.

To show a first hand view of his attitude towards his customers, he has setup a facebook page to name his customers who had issues and release their details on the net , blaming them rather than accepting some responsibility or offering some goodwill. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Common-Customer-Mistakes/1451005308484225

The only way I have got communication back with this guy is raising a dispute on paypal which isn't probably going to end in my favor but if enough people bother to do it it may help.

The price was only $74.99 aud and I figured the price is probably that amount so if it doesn't work, he figures people wont complain!

    Buyer Beware

  7. Bit of an update on this - No cable mod was required for the 2005 e61 wagon I have

    the cable used was

    http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/tools-repair-kits/meters-testers/auction-747029367.htm

the software was actually downloaded from mega.co.nz host and I used the "Bmw Standard Tools 2.12" installs everything with one click apart from a few unzippings to move the daten files into the correct place - I used a win7 32 bit laptop, the setup must be run in xp sp3 compatibility mode, but other than that pretty basic stuff.

As I am waiting on info to get the correct vehicle order to code the entire vehicle to nz or somewhere close, I found that these settings worked - I know that if someone recodes the car the changes will revert until vehicle is correctly coded for oceania.

Below are the names of the modules and the line in each config file that needs updating. Too

    CHOST

    LAENDERVARIANTE_GT

    CTUNE

    RDS_AF_FUNKTION_CCC

    LAENDERVARIANTE_TUNER_ANT
    ece

    CAPPL
    -----------------------------------------

    LAENDERVAARIANTE_TUNER

Took about 10 mins, now I have proper nz frequencies and track info etc. Next project is add an aux input. Maybe tomorrow I will enable mp3

  8. Thanks Allan,

ah crap, ordered this one http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/tools-repair-kits/meters-testers/auction-742028439.htm out of haste a few mins ago

I already have the software running on a 32bit xp pc I have in my garage, though it seems to run ok on win732 bit also in xp compatibility mode. Any links to the mod I will have to do to the vag cable ? my car is an 05 so different protocol to the 07 onwards I believe.

    Edit - found - http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?1317311-How-To-Modify-a-VAGcom-KKL-Cable-for-use-with-your-BMW

    Mod looks fairly easy, Sweet!

  9. I have a basic ELM327 bluetooth dongle, but only reads a couple of modules.

Which cable is the correct one I believe I need one that supports K+Can bus protocol ?

Wanting to recode the radio to start with, maybe add aux in and bluetooth at some point, already has had reversing camera added.

Some places say the vag-com will work http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/tools-repair-kits/meters-testers/auction-742028439.htm , but I cant confirm if that is this model or the LCI

    Cheers
