Hi, I've got a m60b40 from an e34 I can sell. It was running well before removal, it is high km's with around 300k. Located north of Auckland. Cheers

Any ideas if I would need the b40 ECU to run? What kind of $$ would you want for it?

  2. Hi guys,

I am looking at replacing my 525i high mileage N52b25 engine which suffers from the dredded lifter clatter and excessive oil consumption to a N52b30. From what I can see both the 525 and 530 share the same ZF6HP transmission, radiator + other ancillarys and are practically 1/1 identical apart from displacement.

My question is apart from swapping over and possibly coding the b30 DME and CAS module - is there anything else members would think is a stumbling block?

    Thanks in advance

    Cheers!

  4. Agh.

Thought I saw it driving through Te Awanga a couple of Sunday's ago...looks amazing :)

    ......

Classic. Was about to remove the fan and found a present from the previous owner.

This must have been in since I bought 8er a year and a half ago. I guess a bump must have moved it so that it began interfering with the fan. The good news is the fan is fine. No more clattering noise!! Was right underneath so never noticed it before.

Don't think the wife will be pleased when she finds out this was the reason we drove back from Napier on the hottest day of the year with no AC!!!

Typical isnt it, a simple fix, that you actually get sorted when you no longer need to use AC.

Thats a pretty lush tack lifter too, good score.

  5. there are certainly dodgy tyre places but just because a car is new and "only" travelled 12,000kms, doesnt mean it wont need alignment and balancing. it can be required even after leaving the shop if u drive over a pot hole or hit a curb etc. its not something that "goes bad" after a certain distance travelled.

and also if a tyre needs puncture repair, then obviously the tyres come off, and its necessary to get it balanced properly to ensure even tread wear and also so the car drives straight etc

A new car only 6 months old with new tyres does not need a balancing on all 4 tyre imo. They didnt take the tyre off the repair the puncture, they used this heat thing and injected rubber stuff in it (weird I know) :)

Just there whole approch as Benjamin was saying is pushy and bad!

  6. Just got two brand new Bridgestone RE003 fitted (manufactured in Feb!) for $570.

Probably won't do the 2nd hand thing again.

Bridgestone make a nice quiet tyre. Remember ringing Tonys Tyre service (Dodgiest f**kers in the trade) and asking for some second hand tyres, his response was they dont do them because once they have been removed from a wheel the sidewalls perish and you a "almost certainly" going to get blowouts and that tyres arnt designed to be removed and can only be fitted once!.

He then went on the quiz me about tyres asking how much I want to spend, If i was going to buy them today. I remember my Grandmother went in there to get a puncher repaired "Free!" and ended out paying $19 getting the pressure tested and nitrogen filled and wheels balanced for $60 when the car was near new and only traveled 12,000km...Goes without saying beware!

    Rant over

  7. yes always the most important thing when buying second hand tyres... CHECK THE DATE on the sidewall.

Also goes for new tyres too, some will be more than a year old before you buy them, particularly the low turnover premium brands.

Definantly luck of the drawer when buying off TM. I got lucky and scored 2 falkin highest spec 275/35/18 for 120$ with 7mm tread!

  8. in my experience with the V12s, you are better off with one with some milage under its belt

If my SL sells I will definitely be viewing your wagon mate!

250000km maybe just a bit too many though? however from what ive read, a little maintained 80,000km example is worst than a 250,000 maintained one!

  9. Over the last year there has been the once over done in terms of all the intake rubbers and gaskets which perish with age, now its running perfectly.

Was resprayed at some time in its past so the paint work as a whole is quite good.

In terms of KM's, it has been driven a lot but it has also had regular maintenance which makes it a really nice car to drive.

    Original trans?
