  1. Cheers, yeah spoke to Mark about a couple things along these lines already. Good to hear I don't need to go to AKL for the job to be done. I did see your other post about your experience though and a little nervous about stuffing up/bricking the system as a whole.

Also ~$700 seem $$$ to me if they are hooking up a computer and reprogramming the existing hardware, I suppose its a sellers market though. Re: The GPS I assume the reprogram also came with new DVD disc's and maps for NZ right?

Is suppose the other question of you I have is, is it worth it? Are the BMW nav and maps as good as a aftermarket Sat Nav? I hate the idea of my system being half baked the way it is but I find most in-dash GPS systems are pretty sub-standard.

  2. Ok, I've looked on a bunch of forums and can't find a definative answer. Figured NZ forum might be best place to ask. I have a Jap Spec 08 e60 and I am looking for options to get the Nav and TV working.

AutoGravity says they can reprogram the existing hardware for the Nav. How is this possible? I thought the only solution was a whole CCC replacement. Has anyone done this or dealt with Autogravity?

Alternately I am in Wellington, anyone know of local solutions?

Finally, as I understand it, NZ's Digital TV is a different standard to most of the world eg. MPEG4 rather than MPEG2 or something along those lines. Did any of the NZ New models come with working TV or is this simply not something BMW supported for the e60 analogue/digital TV receivers?

Any experiences or advice is appreciated.

  3. thinking of selling my beema for a mini next year, any thing to look out for when buying?

also there is a post somewhere on the forum where the aucklanders are beefing with the wellingtonians. ill leave you to find it :P welcome

My personal pref is the r53 - supercharged model. Just think it looks better. I'd look for an 05 or younger, it comes with the LSD and most were Chili packs including HK stereo, Xenon's and etc... Supercharger rebuilts are expensive so worth checking out if its been treated well and hasn't had reduction pulleys put on.

Haha will look for the thread, love an irrational forum war.

  4. Hello. :)

    Any pictures of the M535i?

Sadly no, got collected in a t-bone accident when someone ran a red light :( Was never the same after. Great car though.

Mini has been my personal favourite though, massive fun to drive and something you can push to the limit around town.

Advan rims aren't my usually thing either but they look even better in real life.

I still want an e30 325is, thats been a dream car of mine since I was 13.

  5. Hi All

Just found this site after a long time searching the internet. I am an Aussie living in Wellington, I recently moved here and picked up myself a 550i 2007 Jap Import. Its a pretty sweet ride. Back in Aus I've had the following Bavarian rides:

    1986 M535i

    1996 328i Convertible

    2004 Mini Cooper S

    2004 X5 3.0D

I am keen to do the Nav and TV conversion, considering a radar detector and other mods. I am keen to hear other members thoughts on good roads, drive days and meets around NZ. Below are some photos of my more recent rides and the new beast.
