Most of the guys here know a thing or two about selling such vehicles. You have a lovely car, and i hope it sells well, but take into consideration all of the above, be realistic in the market if you want to sell it at all. At the end of the day, the ultimate deciding factor is what is someone willing to pay? So simply adjust the price with the market and make the sale happen, glws! We're here to help as a community for BMW enthusiasts, not to derail the post for you. ? .

Thanks for your encouragement, the post seems to have gotten out of hand. And unfortunately has already been derailed.

I posted the car for sale at what I thought it was worth, obviously i am way out on my evaluation. So lets leave it at that it has only created aggravation for me..

but the guy selling the baseball cards doesn't usually threaten to burn the cards or blow up the model plane, right?

What I do with my property is none of your concern, you and the rest are enjoying this debate about MY car

None of you offered any constructive advice until I decided to wreck it instead of selling it cheap.

Thanks for your help and advice.

No I am not the thrash driver that posted before. Sorry to burst your bubble but it seems you are living in a fantasy world bud. I actually have a workshop and I am mechanic myself who works on mostly BMW's so I can tell you that you are being absolutely foolish. Please get some common sense someday soon and stop accusing people of being things they are not on an internet forum when people are clearly trying to help you here. We aren't in your position but still offer expert advice only to be faced with a person who is clearly delusional

One owner, 67,000klms in 14 years, sounds suspicious. But I won't resort to your personal attacks.

Your post is not about helping me, but clearly to devalue my car.

    Enjoy!

been reading these comments on what the vehicle is worth and I am in agreement with most of you guys! A car is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I just picked up a one owner NZ new 03 330i with 67 kms on it with full Jerry Clayton service history and even preventative maintenance items done for only $4.5 k. It is also non m sport with full leather interior in black and black exterior as well. Previous owner was an over the top person so he got paint protection done etc and Pirelli tyres just a month ago So I feel 8 k is way too much for this vehicle given the kms and spec.

But aren't you the "thrash" driver that posted before?

I don't believe you bought a one owner 330i in the condition you state for $4500. If you did the seller must be a fool.

Post some pics of your car if you are genuine?

Well seems you are all right, my car is worth peanuts. It is now off the market. I'd rather wreck it than sell for $4500.

They are obviously crap and don't know why anyone would buy one?

Better off with a Toyota, at least they hold their value.

    BMW enthusiasts indeed!

  6. My point exactly. As a self confessed "thrash" driver, the "M" package would be to your liking. For me however, the softer ride and "less to go wrong" options are more attractive, especially when buying an older car.

But it's all subjective, I've got what I've got and enjoy driving it.

Sorry, I was not trying to offend with my previous post as I for one hate when someone hi jacks/under values a vehicle for sale ad of mine.

The car you indicate is an E90 and priced at $13,500

Double your asking price is 16k.

    World's apart in all aspects.

Well I'm not sure that the E90 is better than the E46, from what mechanics have told me when working on mine, the E46 is the better of the two models.

No need to apologize, I took no offence, according to others who have replied, I am wrongly valuing my car.. However I'm not sure that just because a BMW is an M-sport,  necessarily makes it a better buy, they seem to be popular with the younger thrash drivers and can be big trouble at this age and mileage. I'm 68 and drive conservatively.

Of course this discussion is irrelevant and as Olaf pointed out, the price is entirely dependent on what someone will pay.

It is sad though that caring for these cars adds no future value?

  8. It's about value for money for me, not about adding on maintenance, as Eliongater points out, the car is well maintained and been looked after as a BMW should be.

It's obvious that there is no value in second hand BMWs anymore. I put it on Trade Me at $6500 starting price ad didn't get a bid. Buyers will go to a dealer and pay over $10.000 for these, why? Warranty which you can buy cheaper than a dealer will charge? Finance which anyone with a good credit rating can get cheaper at a bank?

Of course I am disheartened with the whole BMW experience now,

  9. I hear what you say, but look on Trade Me, at what you can buy for $8000, I know how much I've enjoyed this car

and how much I've spent to keep things right, (around $4500 in the last year and a half) I'm valuing it on what it is

    and how it drives.

Rather sell it to a wrecker than sell it for peanuts so that some young guy can buy it and turn it into a thrash car!

You mean, the steering is on the right side, it is the Chinese whose steering wheels are on the wrong side. :D

Yep true, never driven there, but we all know the problems this anomaly causes here for Chinese drivers.

Bugger, would have loved to buy your 330, but I just bought a 1996 328i yesterday. I sold my 2005 NZ New E46 330i nearly a year ago, and at 111000km and all in top notch condition, I could only get $8500 for my 330. I'm still upset that I had to sell it. Good luck.

Yeah, great cars, it's been my baby for a while and feel sad about selling it, but I can't take it to China, steering wheels on the wrong side....lol.

I've got all the receipts for work I've had done, never had a problem with it, but got a check done when I bought it and everything on the list was fixed.

  13. JPC Trade have a guy call Lachlan working in Japan who is an Aussi so it makes conversation very easy and relaxed. Suggest conversing with him as you main contact.

Also Auto Access is good, Stu McLean is General Manager, another Aussie guy. He will look at the car you want to bid on (provided its in his area) and send pics from the auction. I put a deposit on a car and then decided to buy in NZ. Stu returned my deposit in full. Great service and helpful guy all round.

  14. Hope I'm in the right place here, I'm a newbie looking at buying my first BMW. The 2006 323i I'm looking at has, of course, 2 exhaust pipes, one seems grey/black inside, the other is white, I guess these are coming from the final stage muffler. Should I be concerned, I have read reports about white coloured pipes indicating head gasket or cracked head?

  15. Hi guys, just joined tonight and am looking at my first purchase of BMW. Looking at a 323i from Japan, after reading everything I can find on here I must admit to being a bit shaky, not sure if its excitement or fear. Saw one that fits the bill, 60,000lms lots of goodies, but my biggest concern is the mechanics and electrics, that's where the "shaky" comes in, reliability and getting one that will at least have no major problems from kickoff.

This one has dual pipes as per normal, but one pipe seems to be white and one black? However I'm guessing that these pipes are only post the rear muffler, so is this a concern?

I know that white pipe can mean head gasket, cracked head etc.

There are also some bolts that are rusty under the front, seem to be holding the bumper on.

Should I give it a miss?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

  16. Hi everyone, I'm just starting into retirement mode; Been in China for 5.5 years and coming home to the land of milk and honey soon, so need some wheels. I'm looking at a 323i jap import, the knees are shaking not sure from excitement or fear. This will be my first BMW and from what I have read it's not a risk free venture?
