  1. Has anyone changed from OEM runflats to regular tyres and found a noticeable comfort benefit? Several tyre retailers and garages I've contacted are suggesting that while runflats design has come on along way in recent years they are still not as suited for NZ road conditions as regular go flat tyres. The tyre retailers say "we've had no complaints" from customers who've changed away from RFTs. But this is not the same as people reporting actual benefits. The BMW dealership I use state that the G20 Motorsport sedans have their suspension set up to match RFTs and recommend replacing with the OEM option (of course...). But I did sense some suggestion that they wouldn't rule out non RFTs if I insisted. Any thoughts much appreciated. PS to be clear by "comfort" I mean tyre noise and softening of road bumps. I do undertand the the G20 MSport has stiff suspension for handling benefits and that tryre choic is unlikely to make a major difference.
  2. If anyone has recently replaced their RFTs on a G20 series (especially 330e) I'd love to hear your views on what was offered and and whether you found a good option. The retailers seem to have narrowed down to three choices; 1. GoodYear Eagle F1 Aysmetric 3 (my current tyres) 2. Continental Sport Contract 5 (first released in 2011...) 3. Michelin Pilot Sport 4 ZP I'm reading that RFTs have improved significantly in terms of comfort/noise performance due to innovations in the side wall construction. But I'm worried that the tyres I'm being offered are the old designs...?
  3. I'm getting advice from tyre retailers that I shouldn't consider replacing my run flat tyres with non RFTs as my car "is tuned for RFTs". Has anyone recently gone down the non RFT route and had any issues? Unfortunately not getting much useful advice from the local BMW sales/service teams. The reason I'm considering non RFTs is simply to offset the hard ride over road imperfections i.e. hoping the additional flex in side wall will help.
  4. Many thanks both of you, reassuring to hear that non RFTs may make a difference. The car is having a towbar fitted at the moment but recall the tyres are Goodyear Eagle F1 asymmetric 3s (fitted in 2019). As for other stats I think they are : Bolt Pattern 5 x 112PCD Front: 7.5J x R18 ET25 Wheels, 225/45R18 tyres Rear: 8.5J x R18 ET40 Wheels, 255/40R18 tyres I'll start chatting to our local tyre providers but I think around here they mainly deal with high end tyres for utes... Thanks again for the quick responses.
  5. I'm finding the MSport suspension a bit rigid for my daily driving. Guess I should have stumped up for the adaptive suspension...Does anyone know of any options that could help? I have considered replacing the F1 run flat tyres (250/45/R18) with something more pliable e.g. non runflat michelins but suspect that won't make a lot of difference?
  6. I’d like to import a 2018 X3 3.0d from Japan but would like to understand what the cost range could be to change the system from japanese to english i.e. all screen language and nav etc. has anyone had experience with this and seen any limitations?
  7. Hi, all i really want is to be able to connect my iphone to the existing stereo either by cable or bluetooth. Better yet would be to be able to use the steering wheel mounted controls to change song/volume on the phone. I suspect i could get a mounting kit and replace the original stereo but prefer to leave the car original if possible (and the sound fom the 'business' stereo is fine). I've thought about taking the car to a car stereo company to fit an aux input but worried they will do a rush job drilling holes in the dash etc....I did see a aux mounting kit that looked ok that fits into the ashtray/power socket area. Any suggestions appreciated.
  8. I've seen a bluetooth adaptor which can attach to the wiring loom in the boot. But wondering if anyone else has any other option they recommend i consider?
  9. Any issues with 335is i should consider? http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1046766573.htm
