Hi all, Had ended up buying an off the cuff purchase in a 2005 Brown / Gold (awful) 525 to tide me over for a while whilst I import another car from the UK. Where I bought it from had told me the battery needed replacing, and I received a few errors on the dash about this. The battery has now been replaced, however, that was done prior to me reading all about the battery registration stuff, and now I've got a list of errors; Airbags Active Steering iDrive locks up and freezes From what I've read, I should be able to sort this with coding. However, the cable I've got was for an F36, so had the RJ45 / Network cable other end, as opposed to USB. Does anyone know where I can get a cable from in Auckland over the weekend at all? or assistance from someone (paid for!) to help resolve..? Driving me mad...

Hey guys... Ok, so currently, i've got a 2007 650i, and love it... however, an opportunity came up to import a car from the UK, leveraging the VAT Q (take 20% off the purchase price over there, if you are exporting, assuming it's "VAT Qualiying") rule. Long story short, i was looking at importing a 535D, but felt that might be just a little too practical for me after the 650i. I've gone for a 440i, Gran-Coupe, which is an ex demonstrator from a dealer in the UK (1100 miles on it)... My car is due late Dec / Early Jan. There are 2 x problems with importing a car from the UK (that i know of)... The GPS isn't right... but i believe i can sort that for a few hundred $$$ The Speedo is in MPH primary, with small KPH numbers.. Does anyone know of a way which i can get the dash panel swapped / replaced with a KPH one? Is there anything else I've missed, and should probably be thinking about? I've inquired about the BMW warranty, and my understanding is that BMW International will cover it for 2 years, but i may have to pay up front for local kiwi dealers to do any work on it, whilst they claim it back from ze Germans... On a complete side topic... What sort of money could / would be a reasonable price to put the 650i up for sale at.. Black, good condition, 125,000k's Black Leather...? Cheers, Sly

Reasonably happy... Hmm, 12k would have been nicer i have a feeling i need all the cash i can get to pay for gas in the 650!

It already is... Will have to have a look at reasonable Bluetooth setups through Aux now!

After dicking around inside the armrest... (I've never seen anything so complicated ... under the random 90's phone holder, i have found a AUX port.... YAY!. So just spent an hour or so trying to remove the phone tray thing as gracefully as possible, and then route the phone wires back down the side. Much happier now i can listen to music again! (all my CD's are 10 years old at least, and are up in the loft!). Hmm, now I wonder if i can achieve most of what else i want to with a Bluetooth adapter for the Aux port?! Is it possible to still use that for a phone call (presume there would have to be a seperately wired mic).

That was my gut feel pre putting the auction up there... anything above $11k and i'm happy!

Thought i'd got the solution nailed tonight... (On Bluetooth / Audio / Car Phone). Just spent ages reading, and looking at videos of the Dennison 500s BT kitl... emulates the CD changer (which my car has)... Unitl...... in the small print, it says it's not compatible with the Japanese E63!? Why on earth would that be? it's still a CD changer!? ... Gutted, as that was a sub $1k option, as opposed to several!

I try to be pretty strict on who i let bid, to save time wasting etc. (i.e. a decent % of feedback, and no "new" members)... usually seems to work out alright. Guess we'll see.... hope it goes for a bit more than it's currently at :| What sort of price would you guys see as market value (as opposed to what people are often asking, but not actually getting)... Cheers

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=897032034 Just bought the 650i, so need to sell the 323. I've had reasonable success in the past selling $1 reserve cars (always seem to go for there, or there abouts!). so thought i'd do it again.. That and the wife will kill me if there are 2 BMW's sitting on the drive way for too long! Been a great car, but wow, the 650i is a totally different beast! Anyway... Currently at $7k, i'd be curious to hear what people think it should / will sell for!? Ends on Sunday avo!

Cheers, Have sent a messa Cheers, have sent a message asking for options... Picked up the car this evening, drives lovely! However, the iDrive is somewhat dated (to be fair it is 8 years old!)... I'd fitted a high end JVC single DIN unit to my e90, and that worked a treat... but guess it's not quite as simple in the 6er!

Cool, thanks for the reply... Yeah, had a rough quote from Carfoile, and will be getting that done in the next few weeks... I'm looking at the 3M Brushed Titanium myself, i have the "actual" brushed aluminium in my 323i, and it looks cool, but the Titanium is slightly darker.... Hmmmm options! Haven't picked up the car yet, that's this evening! With the Bluetooth stuff, what products did they use? do you know?! is it a full system replacement? Cheers

Hi All, Currently on my way of migrating from a 2006 323i, to a 2007 650i... The 650i I have purchased, though haven't taken possession of yet, is a Japanese import (common here in NZ). One of the first things i'm looking to change is the love it or hate it wood trim... In my current 323i, i've got the brushed aluminium look, and that's great, but in the 650i, it's a really bright walnut colour... What's the best way of resolving this? I've seen a few "wrap" kits around, but I'm about as creative and dainty as an arm-less man at an arm wrestling convention! Are the full replacement kits affordable?! or am I best to try and find someone to do the wrap work for me? The other thing I will want to resolve is the Audio / Bluetooth side of things.. In the 323i, i simply got a dash trim kit, and put in place a single DIN head unit with all the features i required (and got the adapters for the steering wheel etc.), and this worked great... Clearly with an I Drive system, it's not quite as easy as that... A lot of things i've read have suggested that the aux input port and a Bluetooth adapter is the way to go, but to be honest, i was after something a bit more elegant than that, possibly even controllable from the wheel controls? Can anyone make any recommendations in this area!? Can't wait to get my car, whilst not new by any stretch of the imagination, it's my first V8, so pretty keen to start driving Thanks in advance!
