  1. thanks all! will give it a crack when i am less stressed for time. brent i assume this is in the wiring underneath rear seats? the door lock doesn't push down at all, so i suspect it is jammed. and it is the factory head unit
  2. hi all, new to these forums, so please excuse my ignorance if any. recently purchased a 525i with a problem with the radio - cannot pick up any fm frequencies, only am. i want to know where to locate the antenna and whether there is a remedy or i need to replace something. another problem is the drivers door doesn't lock. not even manually. i try to push it down and it feels as though it is jammed. is this a common problem? i assume one of the mechanisms has slipped or something. hopefully a matter of pulling the door card off, but again i wouldnt know where, or what to look for. if anyone could shed some light on these problems, your own experiences maybe, and anything else of concern with these cars. other than these issues, best car i have driven thank you in advance!
  3. seemed like a logical decision to join a BMW forum once i bought my new e34! i post regularly on oldschool.co.nz, and was recommended this site by a few others. recently purchased a 1989 525i off a friend, in immaculate condition, running a m20b25 out of an E30 after the factory motor got cooked by a previous owner. automatic trans is its only downfall, but its the perfect car to cruise. i have some e34 basketweaves to put on in the near future, then plan to lower the ride height and other aesthetic details. maybe AC schnitzers or BBS mesh in the near future. only faults in the car - drivers door doesn't lock and all other doors do. have tried spraying crc down the keyhole and all that jazz but no luck in fixing. i see this is somewhat common with this model, anyone on here know what the problem is? also the internal aerial is chooched, can't pick up fm frequencies. need to figure out how to access it and replace. look forward to posting on the forums and learning more about the car. will update as my work progresses!
