  1. That's a nice one as well. It's so satisfying to see a clean E38. When they're well taken care of they still look fresh. Was the AUX ventilation system common on these? Haven't heard much about this feature
  2. Always had a soft spot for the E38, this looks a nice but overpriced example http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1022771113.htm
  3. Happy to share the list, if it's not allowed please let me know. Cosmetic things weren't a worry, but the rest was... Both remote keys faulty Both electro chromatic mirrors damaged and R/H mirror housing broken Both sets of tailgate struts weak Rear window glass trim broken Aerial mast on roof broken Bulk head & wiper cowel panels broken Headlight lenses need polish and lacquer Windscreen washer piping leaking Vanos hose leaking Oil filter remote housing leaking Rocker cover leaking Possible sump gasket leaking Power steering hoses leaking res>pump & cooler>res Fan shroud clips missing Fan shroud broken on bottom expansion tank hose mount Slight cracking of driveshaft coupling Both front lower quarter panels and guard liners damaged Thrust arm bushes leaked oil & split Lower intake elbow perished Signs of recent water loss (overheating ?) and cooling system repairs One fan shroud mount damaged on new radiator Fault codes: DME, EWS, ZKE, IHKA, SRS (may have been old) Very loud noise on cold start up coming from idler bearing / alternator area. Alternator appears to have had a previous repair
  4. Sadly the 530i was a dud. Lots of little issues and a couple big ones means I'll be passing on this one. Big thanks to Glenn and Botany Motorworx who did a great job and very accommodating. Dealer wasn't too happy when I showed him an A4 page worth of issues, anyone else who is interested in this car should definitely be cautious.
  5. Thanks for your input everyone. Botany Motorworx is having a look at it end of this week. Fingers crossed it will be a keeper.
  6. Hi everyone, I've been on the lookout for an e39 for a while now, and after a couple of near misses I've today put a deposit down on a 2001 530i Touring Motorsport. Very exciting, but I want to get a thorough pre-purchase inspection done. Can anyone recommend any good places in the New Lynn area? I've read good things about Glenn and Botany Motorworx but it's on the other side of town. Thanks, Chris
