  1. Add NCS for dummies.

Once yup have the trace for the module, go to Dummies, pull the same module, and point it af the trace.

Everything will be in semi plain English.

Find the settign ting and change it, then save the modded trace, go back to NCS and so codeiren, and done.

Basiccally you access the module and wrote the changes with NCS, but actually DO the change on Dummies.

Hope that helps. A year or so ago I was starting from zip knowledge as well. Now I can't explain it that well because it's all just instinct, lol.

  2. This isn't meant to be sarcastic, but I can't figure out any other way to say it.

Google the cd Changer Retrofit instructions for an e83 ( I found them 15 months ago) and follow them in reverse?

basically lift off the finisher trim, remove the console remove the stacker amd brackets, reinstall console drop the new liner into place.

There's sufficient fog down our way to sometimes qualify as being appropriate for using fog lights.

The issue is that it is possible, in older BMWs at least, to switch on the foglights, and forget them. There is no indication on the dash to say they are in use. And turning off the headlights/sidelights does not cancel the foglights - the next time those lights are turned on, the foglight is there waiting.
I don't think the button on the E36 lights up to say foglights are in use, for example.

Mercedes have a system where you turn a knob to switch on headlights. Once turned, you pull it out to one position to enable one set (front or rear - I don't recall which comes first) of foglights, then pull again to enable the second set. When you turn off the side/headlights, the foglights are automatically cancelled - the knob returns to it's initial 'in' position.
So simple. So effective. So not used by so many manufacturers.

The Mercedes system is why you see so very very many people driving around with their rear fogs on. Was that one notch or two? Ah well they're on.

I liked the E34s system, but I like the e46 system p as well. E34s have a manual switch, you can leave the driving lights or even rear fogs selected so they are available next time the lights are on, but they DO have a dash indicator. E46 are digital, so you have to press them on every time.

Btw, I'm running both sides for fogs on my Retrofit. You need the other bulb carrier, in essence I have an EU left and EU right. You can just parallel the positive leads.

  4. Neal, why not get the lightning splitter and mount that to the dock instead, then your Apple headphone Dac on one leg and your charger on the other leg? You could use 5s-7s? iPod nano7, iPod touch, anything with lightning connector.

The more i hear about these ULFs  (13 generations? And they don't work on every phone?) the gladder I am the USA never got them. I have a $50 -993 TCU ( 05, our first Assist module with BT calling) and it is perfectly fine for calling.  Just doesn't activate Siri from the talking man, I recitals last number if you press it. I can push button for Siri myself... or use my watch whilst driving, lol.

  5. I've always wondered if the e83 underseat subs would fit in an e46, but I've never had seats out of either car.

I will say the e83 stock for stock is a much more satisfying experience, and that is the only difference between it and my wagon. (And slightly more interior ft3)

the seat brackets are taller though, so it would probably be a no go in the e46 which is a shame.

Thanks for that. Aux capable? Do you have an aux port? Where is it located? Yes I'm iPhone.

    Fants.

I bought the BMW aux cable, and plugged it on the back of the radio. It doesn't have a "aux port"

i installed the jack on the other end of the cable next to the rear lighter so both rear and front seat passengers can use it.

My my brother only has apple devices so he installed the Enfig adapter for wired iPhone playback with controls in his e83. Iirc he said he was going to put it in the armrest, as that is where the phone adapters would have gone, and it's a good place for even an ip6+

  7. If it were prefacelift I would, but mtech 2 were only on zhp here in the states, and are stupid money to buy new OEM... amd to be honest, it seems like every other person immediately goes and buys an tech 2 replica. I kinda like the original bumper, and if I ever get a fix it ticket for front plate, I have a place to put it on to get the ticket dismissed, lol.

  8. Thanks Olaf!

Every few years they change em! I like these the best. Simple.

The rims are the original style 119s that came on the 2004+ sport package.

Ive noticed if I want to find Touring info and inspiration I generally need to look abroad where tourings are more plentiful!

I did do an 07 or 08 e65 Gentex EC rearview with Homelink which I forgot to list also, only difficulty was pulling the SOS wiring from the connector to not Fry the mirror, and grinding down the base protrusions on the mirror a bit.  Way better than the old magnetti Marelli SoS mirror, and the stubby clown nose doesn't interfere with my vision

  9. E34 was the high mark for the analogue systems imo, had the benefit of better quality late 80s components as opposed to the 70s tech in earlier cars, very very few failures.

So far I'm super happy with the e46 as a digital car, still owner maintainable.

You just don't hear a lot about module failures, maybe there is one module that is troublesome per car, e38 lkm, e46 gm5, etc but usually the Internet will find a solution or upgrade path to eliminate the weak link.

  10. Hello from the other end of the globe!

The grass is always greener on the other side, so I'm looking to you green and lush New Zealand from dirty dusty desert El Paso TX, for interesting ideas.

On a less poetic note, I've been converting and retrofitting a lot of EU spec item to "be different" as if owning a Touring wasn't rare enough in the USA, and I've been browsing your forum off and on for over a year now. Thought I'd say hi officially. I'm kind of an OEM+/stealth install guy.

The vehicle: e46/3 M56 SULEV with ZPP, ZSP, ZCP, and Nav

    Retrofits:

    City lights

    Rear Fogs

    rear Camera

OEM EU TV Tuner, with 5v converted home ATSC dtv converter for off air channel reception.

Clear rear lights and side Indicators.

    Eurotray

Factory aux input fitted to inside of eurotray pen holder.

    Roof racks removed

    $5 alarm siren

    e65 electrochromatic mirror with Homelink

TCU with BT replaced non BT TCU

    A lot of coding done!
