Hi. I am looking for the trim piece that is next to the steering wheel and has the handbrake release lever in it. Vehicle is a 2001 E38 740i. Not sure if my trim is black or very dark grey but it's the plastic that's important as i can swap the soft cover. The plastic on mine is too damaged to salvage. Hope someone has one of these and thanks for your time.

So having been assured that my throttle us cables I find today that it's not its electronic. This is good news. What I'm thinking is I use a second pedal actuator and mount it higher in the dash so the hand controls can operate it. By extending the cabling I can switch between the foot and hand control as required. Does anyone know if the extra cable length will interfere with the signal to the engine. One more thing. I have the 16:9 screen and it's a 2001 car. DSP doesn't come up on the menu. Is it possible it doesn't have DSP or is it only active when playing a cd. I was under the impression all cars that age had DSP. Sent from my E5823 using Tapatalk

Hi. I,ve just become a BMW owner after many years of wanting one. I now have a 320i and a 740i M Sport. In the 740 I can't turn the radio on once I'm driving. I have to turn it on before starting the engine then it's fine. Is this normal, is it a setting that I can change. Sent from my E5823 using Tapatalk

No they aren't. It is quite simple to tap into drive by wire just costly. An installed system for drive by wire is around 9k. Standard set up is 3.5k Sent from my E5823 using Tapatalk

What I'm trying to do is fit something that doesn't go through the trim panel and require the steering column to be fixed. I'm wondering if anyone has experience with using electronics to pull a cable instead of levers. Sent from my E5823 using Tapatalk

I'm a disables driver and looking at putting hand controls into an E38. Does anyone have any experience of this. Would like to make it as tidy as possible and was wondering if it's possible to make a manual controller that operates a cruise control servo for the accelerator. Any ideas greatly appreciated.
