Hi Brent... Thanks. I have the original owners manual. Just need the appropriate other books (plus the folder if you have it)? My stereo head unit has a monitor which swivels out (not sure when they were introduced in the E53), with the CD changer in the boot. Cheers Ian

Have inherited only the Owner's Handbook for the above X5, so would appreciate English version of the above and other booklets (with original BMW folder also if possible) wqhich would have come in a NZ new vehicle (4.4L). Cheers

Had Magoo Mufflers in Dunedin modify my E39 530i exhaust. They had done two of these previously so knew what to expect. Replaced rear resonator with a short straight thru resonator, and the rear muffler with an aussie made sports muffler plus chrome oval tip. The sound is deep and 'purposeful'. Am very satisfied.

The 730ilD is a cruiser which is fine for what it is designed for...but it reinforces how good my E39 motorsport is thru the twisties! You are always aware that it is a large car, while the 530 often makes you think it is a small car, if that makes any sense? Since the purchase I have replaced the fog lights/surrounds, fitted aheavy duty towbar, new windscreen, new w/screen rubbers (goldplated ones courtesy of JGBMW!!), repaired the CD changer and priced to have the front end repainted.... Then it will be time for some pics....

Thanks guys...that gives me another couple of brands to weigh up. I am not seeking the ultimate tyre...just something which offers bang for buck on this particular car (E39 530i Msport) ...I drive defensively on public roads, which I do for a living...avoiding Chinese suicide pilots on a daily basis...tomorrow it is 600ks return Queenstown-Milford Sound in a 7 Series. To scare myself witless, I have an endurance race car Thanks for all the advice.

If it was that easy, I would not have posted...Bridgestone do not have a single model of tyre in both sizes in NZ, according to Bridgestone. Sorry to have started a debate on tyre wear/alignment etc...
-
Thanks,,,but I meant what I said 'the same tread pattern'. The wheels are factory staggered, and I intend to keep it that way. I am a confessed newbie as far as E39s are concerned, but have learnt a thing or two about tyres over 40 yrs of motorsport involvement and have my preferences re alignment, tyre pressures, rotation , load ratings etc etc.

Thanks...but looking for same tread pattern front and rear. Cheers
-
Many thanks...According to Bridgestone, the re003 is not available here in both sizes...

A newbie with car currently on Maxxis (235/45x17 front & 255/40x17 rear different patters) Would prefer a performance orientated set of matching tread. Have been offered Conti MC5 so far as perhaps the only option....what are others running and cost please? Cheers Ian
-
That is an amazingly generous offer!!! Let me get back to you if I may in a couple of days...
-
Thanks...will check with BMW dealer tomorrow, US freight would probably bring it to a similar price here in NZ, but thanks for the info...

My car came with the foglights/surrounds missing (2002 facelift with msport bumper) and the light which I have sourced looks different to the one in the trademe ad in terms of its fixing.. It seems that the RH foglight surrond differs from my original ;LH one (which I have)...by way of the large flat piece of plastic which completely fills in the apeture... I can see myself visiting the dealer when in ChCh tomorrow.... Thanks
-
RH (drivers side) fog light surround to fit my E39 M Sport bumper....wanted asap Yet to visit a dealer but I believe it is solid gold under the black plastic!! SH in good condition or anyone who has bought one on Ebay welcome to advise please (a bewildering selection when I looked).. Cheers Ian

Thanks for the welcome guys. Tomorrow its thru the Haast with clients then over Arthurs' Pass to ChCh. Usually for this work I am given an ex Ministerial 730iL...but tomorrow its a Holden Caprice, so shall just have to suck it up!!! No doubt ignorant campervan drivers and Chinese in rentals overtaking on blind corners will be on the agenda!!!!
