@E30kid I can too.. my old E46 I had 6-7 years ago had shockers, replaced them within a week

I know, I know @B.M.W Ltd - as it is guys have kinda depressed me on a day I’ve been looking forward to for a week with the constant barrage of negative comments about the N42.. I get it ?

I won’t bother with the head unit, I definitely want wheels though!

Funnily enough, I haven’t read anywhere, other than in here, about these engines being dramatically unreliable. Dads 04 e46 went issue free for 4 years and it was driven over 20,000km/year over that time..

@Michael. all good in theory, but have you got the additional $4-5k I’d need to jump up to the 330 with under 80,000km?

Might look into it.. plus that big a engine in a small(er) car will give far better performance than a supercharger

@zero it’s done high 80s I believe. How much would an m54 with similar ks set me back?

ok.. I’m done. I’ll enjoy and look after my vehicle, like all my others.. including my current E60 525i which hasn’t missed a beat.. and continue getting BMW themselves to maintain.

Your first issue was Castrol 5w30 rather than BMW specific oil.. ?

That’s cool, my dads an auto electrician of 43 years and he said if there are issues, we can repair them... there are known issues, we have the list and pricing. My positive spin, I love bmw and repair and maintenance is part of it.

Parents owned one for 5 years without an issue. I’ll remain positive

One thing that works in my favour, keen bmw enthusiast owned it before me and service history since 08 is complete! So I’m hoping I get lucky

I’ve got money set aside for the rocker cover.. I know they need replacing generally around the kms the car I’ve bought is at.

@gjm it is the N46 engine, and I’ve been reading up on forums and supercharge is, supposedly, easy. I’ve read the car can handle without any further upgrades of gearbox/transmission etc. but air intake, cat back delete and remap could be a good start.

Morning all, this week my new 3 series arrives and before it does I wanted to gain any recommendations on performance enhancement and overall quality betterment I can get for the car. I know they’re a bit of a slug (150HP) but am hoping there is a way to get some extra power through exhaust system, air intake etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
