@Gaz Good advice. It was a toll reader in the glove box. Pulling the cables seems to have stopped it. Odd thing was the sound didn't seem to be coming from the glove box. It was probably just being thrown around behind the dash. Nothing like a loud Japanese welcome to your luxury European car. Thanks for the help

I own a 2011 116i fitted with an iDrive system. The vehicle is a Japanese import. The iDrive system has been set to English, and all iDrive and dash displays appear in English. However, when I start the vehicle a tone plays, followed by an audio message in Japanese. I'd like to stop this from happening, does anyone have any suggestions?
