  1. yeah same here, though the first time was longer, helps if you have the tools you need on hand to start with.

I've recently done the M20 2.5ltr to 2.8 etc etc 272 cam balanced headers and chipped

dead square engine and not too tuned as to be tiring to drive all day

really smooth flexible and torquey with heaps of punch

theres a good video of how to build one

  2. I'm thinking of buying some new sway bars for my e30 and from what i can tell, Bimmerworlds own kit Link appears like the best for price and quality. Im pretty set on a 22mm/19mm setup, and theirs looks like the nicest kit using those size bars. Has anyone got their kit? I'd be interested to know if its as good as it looks in terms of quality. H&R's bars look the most professional to me, but are soo much more expensive than competitors.

In terms of quality, what have other people found from other kits?

Just going from pictures, it looks like some(Ireland engineering for example) are a bit rough and use average quality components.

    Cheers

  3. It's all go is it Brendan, any more major work/tweaks?

    Hi Glenn and MrE34

So far the car is really terrific- Very smooth to drive and heaps of torque - sounds much better too .I deliberately set out not to tune it too hard - theres no point sacrificing drivability as I wanted to use it every day like I have for the past 18 years. It has a slightly lumpy idle but bugger all considering the cam its running. The other issue is that I didnt want to go the next step of grunting up the head work or turbo - big valves etc etc as these do have a weakness in the head castings and its all more cost. Where do you stop.

What I have ended up with is a dead square unstressed engine which is very smooth and very very driveable.

The car has a few other non std things:

Nolathane suspension throughout with fully adjustable back end ,Bilsteins all round with HD springs HD sway bars back and front ,Strut brace, sports drilled discs, short shift, M3 seats , dunlop falkens onto E30 accessory Mags which I scored from Ernst- these were made by BMW as a gen E30 accessory mag and are easier to clean than the BBS mags

next stage is spruce up the body work a bit and I'll pop a few pics on here when I remember.

  4. I recently posted about wanting to source a carpet set for the car. Glenn at Botany MW initially thought he could get me one from BMW but was not to be the case so I'm casting further afield and inparticular would appreciate any website addresses for BMW parts in Sweden

    thanks

    Glenn

Thanks for trying and you have had the same response I've had from BMW.

I will take your advice and see if I can find some swedish sites which may turn up something

    thanks again

  6. Ok so i've got an m20b25 engine that i want to build into either a m20 2.7 stroker or convert to 2.8 by using m52 crank etc.

Im a bit of a noob when it comes to engines. Have been doing some research and still have no idea what the better option will be?

I have access to workshop and my experianced family members as well as alot of factory BMW engines so getting these parts shouldnt be hard.

A disadvantage to the 2.7 would be that i dont have access to an eta block.

Please any feedback on the better/cheaper/easier engine swap would be much appreciated! :)

    Thanks all.

I have done all the research and have built a 2.8 for my touring now running using the steel M52 crank and spacer.

    118kw@back wheels

    280 nm torque

    272 shrick cam

    std va;lves springs

    Hartge 2ltre rods

    std pistons

    fully balanced

    head slightly ported

    headers

    std clutch

    slightly hotter plugs

    std injectors

    new accessories

go to www marlin sports- its all there

  7. I would say your best bet is to source some mint second hand carpets, both E30’s I have had have had absolutely mint carpets so im guessing there would be plenty out there, sedan and touring will be the same.

    Call Ray at Hell BMW.

If you want new an auto trimmer can re-trim the stock foam underlay with new carpet.

    Hi mate

    Thanks

no the touring and sedan area different

    hence da problemo

    I'll see what Glenn says

    Thanks again

  8. Hi

Some time ago I posted this topic but didnt get anywhere so I'm trying again.I'm doing a restore of this car which I've had for awhile and now want to replace the original carpet sets . There are two bonded sound insulation foam/ carpet parts which are split under the front seats. The foam is moulded to the floor pan shape so trying to just recarpet is problematic and I would prefer to find the correct parts .Jerry C's had them in stock Nov last year but BMW ended them in Dec and I understand the parts world wide have been returned to BMW. Probably to be auctioned off for RH drives to UK rest to where ever.

Anybody able to help with leads on where I can try to source these two parts

    Part numbers 51471976660, 51471947323

    Thanks
