You need to remove the old spring perch and cut down the strut housing depending on the design. Its not really a job for a the back yarder unless your good with a mig. Id definitely pay the $100 or whatever it is to ensure the weld has good penetration and is solid as your whole car is resting on that weld. Also with the one piece coilovers on the rear. You need to go uprated RSM as the rear strut mount for these cars is not designed to take the extra loading that occurs from the spring now sitting on the shock. Think of it like this from factory the spring pushes on the subframe when you go coil overs you are moving that load point to the rear strut mount. You don't really need to use a single piece coil over for the rear of these cars the 2-piece system will work quite happily unless it is a track only car.
  2. yeah it definitly has been converted to mtech 1 but its all factory mtech 1 kit. If you have a look at the rear wheel wells the rubber end plate doesn't quite match up to the late model arches.
  3. hahah i would have rathered doing it out of the car but i didnt have an engine hoist available to me so i had to do it in the vehicle which i have done before to a 318i but this time 3 off the bellhousing bolts were rusted into the alloy. I spent a day just cutting the heads of so i could slide the gbox off

    M325i vs SR20DET.

Dude are you serious? I've driven a s14 with all that full tein coil overs, bride seats, all the suspension work you can name. Still didn't feel as nimble or poised or ready to steer as the e30
  5. oh and i grounded it to the rh side rsm.
  6. Yeah thats what that buzz bar does. It's isolated and has 4 points of power feed to run anything i want i.e. for the sr swap
  7. hey guys, Back again used to have a 2 door 318i ended up blowing the oil pump up. Now i've picked up this tidy little thing. Got it for 3k AUS with 130,000kms on it. enjoy some pictures. oh btw it was a japanese import XD This is the purchase receipt from japan lol Japanese manual Yes racing is excellent lol First modification was to get rid of the old man steering wheel Little bit of rust removal Got a week between jobs thought id do something beneficial Moved the battery to the boot Removed clutch fan
