Wow what a great site and glad to be a BMW owner at last !
I've just purchased a 1989 e30 320i Touring and couldn't be happier except for this funny (best way to describe the noise would be like one of those wind-up Monkeys with cymbals) noise when the heater is on hot. No noise when on cold but always when there's any hint of hot on the control. Clatter coming from under the centre console and gets quicker and louder at higher RPM until you hit say 4,500 RPM then stops...would this be the heater valve in the heater core ?
