  1. Right so i have a 89 318i, ive had it for about 4 years now and never really had any major issues, apart from the central locking grrrrr!!. Anyway it hasn't been on the road much lately but when it is it runs very rough. When i go to start it the engine turns over a few times and then usually stalls and i have to try again 2-3 times to get it going. Once it's going it tends to idle very rough aswell. It also makes a loud ticking noise, which soon goes away after its warmed up.

    I'm abit of a newbie when it comes to this sort of stuff and just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction??

  2. Hi thanks again there Will.

    OK so after a bit of fiddling round, i manage to pull apart my whole locking system in the drivers door! mission it was to get back in though!, anyway i removed the Uclip etc and checked the spring all seemed to be working fine and when i disconnected everything and pulled it all apart it still wouldn't let me into any of my other doors or boot <_<

    From what you were saying it seems like it must be the CLU then? however i was im wondering if perhaps the electric locking solenoid could be the source of my problem?? it certainly isnt working properly as it has to be unscrewed for me to be able to open my drivers door :unsure:

  3. Hey Will thanks for the advice there, i think you might be bang on!

    OK so i removed the door panel, then undone a couple of screws that were holding on the lock mechanism on? this then allowed me to unlock my drivers door!!! however my boot and other doors remain frozen. Im not sure what to do from here and not sure what the "U" clip was all about, Sorry if im not quiet up with the play :unsure: , but could you kindly abbreviate a little more :)

  4. No i don't think it is the dead lock, that was the first thing i checked as i have used it in the past. As for fixing the front left door, i can't see how that would help my problem,it hasn't been going for the last 4 years lol. Not really sure about the out of sync locks though, could this be my problem??

  5. Hey guys,

    Having some major trouble with my central locking system, after sum rain over the last few days here in Christchurch my facelift E30 has decided it no longer wants to let me in!!! the only way i am still able to get in is via my passenger door which is not hooked up to the central locking system. All other doors including the boot now seem dead locked as my key refuses to be of any use.

    I have so far pulled out my central locking unit, but from what i can tell its still seems to be working, i.e it makes a clicking noise.

    Could someone please be so kind as to giving me some advice, any help is much appreciated.

    Ive got some expensive gear in my boot that i need to get out!!!!

    Praying someone can help me out here,

    My central locking has recently packed itself up. In other words, it no longer works full stop and was working fine until a couple of days ago.

    Due my central locking now being nonexistent i can no longer get into my boot, as it requires a different key to my doors, one i which i don't have:( Is there anyway to manually open the boot from the inside and what is the most probable course for my central locking malfunction.

    Any help much appreciated guys,

    Good on ya for standing out from the crowd with your clear lights.........however even thow im into abit bling myself i probley wouldnt put them on my car........

    I prefer the EURO Crystal Red/Clear Tail Lights in the picture below, as they don't look to have been riped straight off a honda.

    Haha damm its a pity I'm not looking for "taste", "refinement and style" I'm just after some "bling" :P

    No doubt a large majority of people will agree that chromes on a BMW are just not meant to be....sadly I'm not in that large majority. I fit into that minority of young BMW enthusiasts who put chrome at the top of their list ;) and un till i get my hands on that vaccine i think I'm going to stay that way sorry :(:( :banghead: :P

    I was also hoping that someone of this forum might just happen to have a spare set of chromes lyeing around :P , from an earlier period of their BMW enthusiast lifes. And now since they disprove them so much are almost prepared to give them away ;) :thumb:

    Anyway getting back to the point of my topic........I'm looking for some chromes and lowering springs for an 89 318i BMW, can anyone help me out?? :mosh:
