  1. Was the problem before the car hanging on to first for longer than it should be (when cold), then shifting up to 2nd?

So it's 100% fixed now, smooth changes warm or cold?

That was the issue yeah and yep ... seems to be fixed.

  2. Well .. i found the problem,

The trans was in mantaince mode. I plugged the laptop in and reset the transmission.

Took it for a spin and the problem was gone, checked it again when i got home and it says that everything is OK.

It can't be that easy, but bugger it.. LOL

  3. well i'll be buggered, it actually works!.

The software showed me all the errors in the car, even allowed me to reset them and provides live data while the engine is running, plus resetting the service lights.

It has a few features i cant use, like programing the buttons on the wheel (i don't have any) and other bits like that.

    Brilliant.

I think i may have even fixed my trans issue with it .. LOL.

Now i just need to find another car to plug into and compare the results .. who wants to be my test subject ?? ha ha

  4. Cat overheat... get the cat removed and have a dog fitted at Pistop :D

Edit: only if it comes on while driving. With ignition on and not going it stays on to do a self check when started.

    LOL ..

hmm .. the light has come on a couple of times recently while driving and then gone out again.

  5. If you don't want to put up with it, Drop a manual in it.

Who quoted you 3k and to do what?

yeah, but how hard is it to drop a manual in it, who can do it and what would it cost??

as to the 3k, all is was told is that the issue i have is common and that my mechanic's "trans guy" can fix it for 3 grand... personally, i think i can get any work done for a sh*t load less than that.

I think the issue is just the age of the trans.

  6. Heres the problem,

When cold the the car rev's to hard and then drops into gear, I've been told that i can either live with the problem or spend $3000 to get it fixed as it is a common problem.

Has anyone else had the same issue?? and if so what did it cost to fix??

    Hmmm ... manual conversion ???

    Thoughts please.

    Cheers

  7. thanks for the replys guy's .. but i think you misunderstand me.

    Allow my to clarify ..

Yeah ... i'm talking about a PC in a car. :mosh:

I'm ripping out the head unit and replacing it with this

here .. this will link to a laptop mounted on a docking station, where the cd changer is now (in the boot).

I'll be plugging a usb radio tuner and gps unit into the docking station, i'll be including wireless as well ..

power inverter .. oh hell yeah ... just need to source that ... know any places in NZ?? .. oh and a sparky to wire it all up .. lol

My issue is that, because i'm ripping out the entire sound system, i need some advice on how to hook the PC up .. it's hard to explain..

Look at it his way ... think car.. with no sounds .. drop a touch screen monitor into the dash and a pc into the boot ... hook up the speakers and go .. problem ... noise (from lack of sheilding and serious lack of DB ouput from the PC) and me me being a complete novice when it comes to car audio .. i know about computers but i'm going to need some help to tie the two together.

I've plugged my MP3 player into head units before, but that's not what i'm trying to do here ... this will be a complete system, based around a laptop.

Hope this helps ... and please .. keep the advice coming .. i'll be posting photos and progress reports as i go, so if anyone else wants to do the same kind of thing .. you can learn from my mistakes. and i'll be able to offer my help :)

    :banghead:
