Speed Sensor, diff problems

Make: BMW

Model: 318i

Year: 1989

Chassis: E30

How do I put the speed sensor back into my rear differential properly without damaging anything?

The speedometer stopped working, and i checked the diff and the sensor had fallen out, with both screws gone,

Can u tell me how to put it back in properly? and what srews to use?

also, my odometer stopped working? its stuck at 126,000 kms,

any help there?

We get similar spec bolts from Placemakers, if they dont have them, they could probably get them in for you.

hey,

yeah, also i have another problem,

just recently, when i am driving and release the accelerator completely to slow down, the diff starts to make a weird noise, like a sort of clanking sort of noise,

any help here?

You say you thought oil was leaking from it - have you checked the level? Should be up to plug level in the back.

If not then top up. If it has been running low or without then damage may already be done

Could aslo be your diff bush or subframe bushes worn, have you had the diff out at all?

If the speedo sensor just isn't there anymore i'd suspect stripped bolt holes...

I hope for your sake that, that hasn't happened... :unsure:
