madandy 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2007 Anyone recognise this wheel model? Or offer an opinion about the look. Quite like the look but unsure how they'd look on our Arctic Silver E36. The tyres are useless to us as we'd run the BMW recommended 235/40R17 tyres so would have to sell the tyres, as well as the factory wheels & tyres our car already has. and then there's these Not sure about using an 18" on an E36. madandy 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2007 I had a look at those M3 wheels but they're not my favourite M wheel - I think I like the wheels on the 3L better. They'd be best on a properly staggered set up and I've got the feeling I'd need some suspension mods to make that work properly too. What do ya think of those wheels in my first post? I'm concerned about the profile - I mean 235/35R18 is what we'd have to run & is that sort of liquorice onna work well with the stock suspension? madandy 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2007 After looking around at a fair few 18" rims and running tyre size calculators it looks like a 17" rim is goiung to be wise using a 235/40R17 tyre. The 18's rock but I either have to use 245's or 225's to get a good diameter match. And words of wisdom re: staggered set up my on standard suspnsion? I don't wish to make any wholseale changes to the suspension or make significant power up mods to the engine (yeah right, maybe intake & exhaust) as I'm building a track car & have just about finished an RB26DETT re-build (ouch) so this 328 is really a cruiser with some sporting pedigree...if ya push hard ya slide around on the leather! Nothing fat about 245/40's I run them front & rear, a 8" wide rim is typically the narrowest they are spec'd for. Tyre places recommend 235/40-18's because thats what they put on every other falcon & commodore, they would also try telling you 235/45-17's aren't much bigger than 40's LOL yeah right, with the later commanding a higher price than the same tyre in a 45 profile. In the 18" case its either the 225/40 or 245/35 then isn't it. Both of which will work on a 8" wide rim (the typical aftermarket wheel width).
