Gus 5 Report post Posted October 10, 2007 any done this as a 4 stud rear brake upgrade? discs seem around £40 each (z1) and are the same diameter as e30 m3 rear discs. E30 M3 calipers a little bit harder to come by, but i am sure i can find some 2nd hand over here. thoughts please...could someone also get a quote from BMW on Z1 rear discs, whether i can get them in NZ or should get em here should match quite nicely a wilwood or better ($$ depending) front brake setup

PJWO 2 Report post Posted October 11, 2007 Hay Gus, Checked my books we have never had a listing for the rear of Z1. If you decide to go ahead with the conversion it may pay to bring those discs back with you. Paul Interpart.

Gus 5 Report post Posted October 11, 2007 http://bmwfans.info/ this site is great, online ETK. does list the size for e30 discs, but not z1! dicks
Mike 1 Report post Posted October 11, 2007 (edited) the Z1 rear are 280x10, other option is 325iX tourings which are 258mm but ventilated, need to change a few other bits to make the iX stuff work though. e30.de has all the info here ya go: http://translate.google.com/translate?u=ht...Flanguage_tools also, e30 M3 calipers are the same as E32 735 or 730 but the carriers are E30 M3 specific. Gus 5 Report post Posted October 11, 2007 (edited) legend sounds pretty easy..parking brake works as normal? trying to get hold of e30 m3 calipers here, will get extra if i can! might even test the system if i can get an iS euro tourer! edit: and what do you mean by the carriers different?? so its a different caliper? i can imagine those would be easy to come by Edited October 11, 2007 by The Gus
Gus 5 Report post Posted October 11, 2007 part numbers the same?? only 177 euro each brand spanking..not bad at all!
Mike 1 Report post Posted October 11, 2007 Part no's for the actual caliper with the pistons are the same for Z1 and E32, but the carrier/bracket that the caliper slides on is different. Maybe the E32 carrier could be adapted easily enough? PM'd ya too.
Gus 5 Report post Posted October 11, 2007 right, hmm, they have diff part numbers too e30 m3 it is...if only i could find a whole one..
Mike 1 Report post Posted October 24, 2007 Gus - called the $tealer and z1 rears retail for $180NZ + GST, ex germany of course. BMW club would get a bit off this, maybe able to get them down even more if there was a few of us? part no is 34211160402. posted it up as i figured there might be a few more curious about this. Gus 5 Report post Posted October 25, 2007 would prob end up $180ish each as the % off tends to be around GST thats pretty good, i think stock rears are around $150? just a problem finding the calipers...its not the easiest thing to come across!
