deane30 30 Report post Posted November 18, 2007 Hi Guys, Where are some good places to take my e30 to get serviced in wellington? Also, how much will it cost (approx) to get it serviced? Thanks for your help
ducatiss 1 Report post Posted November 18, 2007 Cant tell you where to get it serviced in Wellington but the cost will depend on how long ago it has been since the last service. You could take it to the dealer who will know what needs doing at a particular millage. Expect it to be reasonably expensive if the car has been neglected. On the other hand imo if you are mechanically minded, the E30 isnt hard to work on and you can save a lot by doing it yourself - or at least the easier items like oil/filter and fluids change. Add in a fresh set of plugs, distributor cap etc. A workshop manual will have a diagram of what needs doing at what interval to assist you.

Thanks heaps for your input The car has been reguarly serviced by the previous owner and is in very good condition. I do have the repair manual, although I have no space what so ever to work on the car (even though I'm not that mechanically minded I would give it ago). I'd also like it to be serviced by someone who can reset the service indicator.
ducatiss 1 Report post Posted November 18, 2007 Then it shouldn't cost you a lot if the servicing has been kept up - it all really depends on millage - ie if its due for a cambelt, water pump, and valve clearances then you could be spending a bit. the service indicator is easily re-set if you know how. I do mine with a fused bit of wire across a couple of the terminals on the diagnostic plug - but you have to know which ones or you risk buggering something. Another member may be able to point you to a diagram showing how to do this. Again it one of those things where if you are not comfortable doing your own maintenance or in your case you don't have the space, its better getting someone else to do it. If you dont end up taking it to a dealer, then take it to someone who has done a few E30's or who specializes in BMW's as they are more likely to have the knowledge to do the job in a reasonable time and have access to any special tools etc.
