Guest Andrew Report post Posted June 7, 2004 Daves car (320 85) has another engine problem. This one seems a tad more serious. Under no load you can rev the motor right to redline. Chuck some load on that bad boy and it pulls to ~ 5000 rpm and then BANG POP misfire with poo loads of smoke out the back. I couldn't test in 2nd gear (320s take too much space to go that fast hah) .. Any ideas? I'm thinking - farked spark plugs OR problem with L-Jet OR broken rocker arm. Suggestions people. Guest Andrew Report post Posted June 8, 2004 I'm gonna blame ignition - Dave maybe we can go get the coil/dizzy from glenns old 323 motor.
Guest Spargo Report post Posted June 8, 2004 Sounds like its getting pre igniting under heavy load. What sort of timing is being run?
Guest Andrew Report post Posted June 8, 2004 Sounds like its getting pre igniting under heavy load. What sort of timing is being run? Well - you'd expect some serious knocking. It doesn't get that... I think Daves is only pulling 12 deg adv. and running 98. My 320 is running 22 deg advance on 98 - but it has a new head so the compression is mint I guess.
