Guest Nanaface5000 Report post Posted June 14, 2004 Whats the number for my bmw, its a 535i from 89... And when i mean number, i mean, ya know like a E30 or whatever. Im not sure Also... how much would you expect to pay for a 89 535i that had done 330,000kms?
Guest Zwilling Report post Posted June 14, 2004 I'd say you've got yourself and E34 but the selling price all depends on the condition of it, high k's doesn't necessarily mean bad condition I saw an 88 530i on sale for $10.5k last week...
bmwsparkle 3 Report post Posted June 14, 2004 hmm, that is quite high ks, prob about 4-5g privately but of course would be more in a yard, the ?M30?s of that age (engine) are relativly strong, mine has the same engine, nothing much was changed when it was put into the E34 until a later date. Ive heard of them doing half a million ks easy, you would be better to do an engine swap if you can afford it, eg a 4 or 4.5 litre BMW V8 out of a 540i, or 745i etc, thats what i want to do at a later date if mine blows and i have the money. Guest Nanaface5000 Report post Posted June 15, 2004 Yeah that's what I'm buying it off my old man for, $5000. I wont own it for long however because it will kill me in petrol cost. Everything else in the car is fine, except for a dent in the back which I will fix when ownership is mine. You wouldnt happen to know why the car is running at 18L per 100kmh around town do you? I also heard from some mate of my dads that they have been known to do 500k on the clock... which is bloody amazing. Id like to see a japanese car reach 300k smoothly. Gus 5 Report post Posted June 15, 2004 18L/100k! haha nasty! old engine, maybe losing compression...although that cant be too much over factory specs...it is a big heavy car after all.....most 325's do somewhere round 10l/100 round town....what does it do on normal roads? Guest Speedye30 Report post Posted June 15, 2004 most 325's do somewhere round 10l/100 round town <- Really gus? Mine eats ~12l/100 town, ~9l/100 or so extra-urban...
Gus 5 Report post Posted June 15, 2004 both the OBC and my wallet say around 10L/100k round town, that was with the pod, will be interested to see if my switch to stock is any different....the obc says around 7L/100k extramural....havnt done any in a while but i tend to drive a bit harder outta town so that prob not too right
Guest Nanaface5000 Report post Posted June 16, 2004 the manual says 10L / 100km around town. But from rotorua to auckland it drops its impressive 18L to 10L within 100 or so KM's. Is there a fix of any sort to helping the poor thing out?

Guest Speedye30 Report post Posted June 16, 2004 Oh, well surely my driving style is not aggressive enough to warrant this apparent 20% higher than normal fuel consumption... Hmm I wonder if there's a problem with the car...
