I'd say you've got yourself and E34 but the selling price all depends on the condition of it, high k's doesn't necessarily mean bad condition

I saw an 88 530i on sale for $10.5k last week...

hmm, that is quite high ks, prob about 4-5g privately but of course would be more in a yard, the ?M30?s of that age (engine) are relativly strong, mine has the same engine, nothing much was changed when it was put into the E34 until a later date. Ive heard of them doing half a million ks easy, you would be better to do an engine swap if you can afford it, eg a 4 or 4.5 litre BMW V8 out of a 540i, or 745i etc, thats what i want to do at a later date if mine blows and i have the money.

Yeah, this E34 was in a yard freshly imported i'd say.

I wouldn't mind an E34 with the 4 litre V8 as my second car, i've always liked that shape

Yeah that's what I'm buying it off my old man for, $5000. I wont own it for long however because it will kill me in petrol cost. Everything else in the car is fine, except for a dent in the back which I will fix when ownership is mine. You wouldnt happen to know why the car is running at 18L per 100kmh around town do you?

I also heard from some mate of my dads that they have been known to do 500k on the clock... which is bloody amazing. Id like to see a japanese car reach 300k smoothly.

18L/100k! haha nasty! old engine, maybe losing compression...although that cant be too much over factory specs...it is a big heavy car after all.....most 325's do somewhere round 10l/100 round town....what does it do on normal roads?

the manual says 10L / 100km around town. But from rotorua to auckland it drops its impressive 18L to 10L within 100 or so KM's.

Is there a fix of any sort to helping the poor thing out?

Oh, well surely my driving style is not aggressive enough to warrant this apparent 20% higher than normal fuel consumption... Hmm I wonder if there's a problem with the car...
