Ihave an e30 320i se and i wanted to know if the e30 325i sport engine would go straight in or is it to much bother, any help on the matter would be appreciated thanks. oli mate mines an h reg and i was planning on getting a smashed up car it has all the bits and i wont be doing it myself deffo.thanks for replying.Its a manual to. pureboiracer 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2008 ok... how much do you know about cars? and how much do you know about e30s? this swap can be done. but its not something you can do within a couple of hours, what gearbox have you got? i wouldnt bother doing it with a auto box. i am half way through a 320i to 325i conversion and its being a absolute pig. you wil have to decide what computer system you are going to use and wheather the computer system will work with your gearbox. then you will need to get the new engine. you may aswell strip the engine and overhaul it while its out. then you have to get the correct wiring loom and the computer and you may have to get things such as new radiator. distributor. front pullys ect depending on if your car is facelift or not and what the computer system is your running. then once you have done all that you will have to splice the engine loom into the fusebox. and there is probably alot i have missed. if you have know clue what i just said then do lots of research and plan exactly what you want to do before you start anything hope this helps. oli Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Mike 1 Report post Posted January 13, 2008 (edited) best bet is to find a wrecked one with good motor and gbox. that way you have all the bits and you know they'll all work Curiously, I have a 320 p/fl, and if I grabbed meself a p/fl 325 motor, and slapped that in, what computers would you need to change??? and loomwise, is it not mostly the same? just a bigger motor? they are completely different engine management systems. one is L-jet (320) the other (325) is motronic. I'm not sure how much you would need to change. definately engine loom and ecu, probably gbox or modify yours to work. Things like instrument clusters may also need some playing with to get working.
